From the manual:

If you get into the Service Menu. Click RESUME four times. Click POWER Turn off the printer and turn on again.

soak cartridges in isopropanol

see the printer tray... if there's a small paper inside u get it... then try printing again,,

Just remove the ink cartridge from the printer and clean the surface contact using a cotton moistened dipped in an alcohol .
Return back the cartridge and try to print again.

Try also to Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button until printer restart. Release the button when to completely initialize the printer

Service Error 5100
Cause : Movement of the Print Head Holder is blocked.
Action "Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Hed Holder from moving, cancel printing from your computer, then turn off the machine and turn it back on again.

To scan and send the documents via. e-mail. First of all you must run the setup from the cannon cd (comes with printer), use full installation (recommended option) complete the installation.

If this is already done then :-
1] Put the document that you want to scan in the scanner,

2]Open "control panel" and open "scanners and cameras" folder. (switch to classic view if needed)

3]Switch on the printer (if it's on only then proceed to next step)

4]You will see your scanner icon (if necessary refresh the screen)

5]Open it and click "next"

6] (OPTIONAL) Select scan image type.

7]Click "next".

8]Choose a place to save your image.(default is my pictures)

9]Click "next"

10]and now image scan starts, at last click on finished.

11]Now open your e-mail account, choose "compose mail" fill in the details

12]now select "browse" (for gmail) or select upload file

13]select the address of the image where you saved it (default my pictures)

14]click ok.(you can only upload 1 file at a time)

15]send the mail. !!

16]Thus, you can send image by scanning like as stated above .

Did you refill the ink cartridge, if so, the printer will never read that the ink was refiled, the only way to get the printer to read the ink is to buy original cartridges.

Unplug for 30 seconds then replug, clean the cartridge's contacts, check and make sure the encoder strip is not out of place behind the carriage. Do a full cleaning of the print head manually:(1) Open the printer(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head.(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges(6) Try to print something nowIf none of that works, most likely you need a new print head.
