TEMP IN HOUSE DOSE NOT REACH TEMP SETTING

you need to be more specific here.

If you are not reaching the setpoint (given the setpoint is normal range), then you most likely have an issue. Either the system is not running at max capacity or the system has experienced a failure.

If your setpoint is extremely high (above 80°), then the biggest issue is operator error.

Set your thermostat to 70° and see if it reaches and satisfies. If it does, slowly increase temp to get an idea of where its having trouble. If it doesn't.....call for service.

Maytag home ac, 2 units,

Sounds to me like it's either overcharged, or you have airflow issues. Either way, the compressor could be burned up (shorted to ground) now that it is not working at all. Get a good, competent service tech out there to check it out. If it is a blown compressor, make sure that he flushes out the system with a product called Nu-Calgon RX11 Flush and that he changes the filter driers. If it isn;t blown, a good tech will know what to do. This is a serious thing, so please do not try and fix it yourself.

How do I use the air exchanger open or closed for

"Closed" cools best, but does not exchange air with the outside. Humidity in the room can have more of a tendency to freeze up on the coils, but it is relatively rare. Odors also tend to build up. "Open" allows some outside air to be exchanged with the inside air, but this is less effecient.
That was the long answer. What I'd do is operate it as closed as I could stand it, and leave it cracked open a bit. If I started having icing problems, I'd open it a bit more.

Ac just stop working. we check the outlet and it

If you have power to your outlet. The problem is inside the unit. Does the fan run? If it does not sounds like a blown fuse or control problem in the unit. Does the power cord have a reset button on it if so push it. It is ground fault surge protector.

What is the best ac temp setting for a maytag

You can set it where you want but be careful going below 70 degrees. Definitely do not go below 68 degrees, may cause some issues in the refrigerant flow and shorten the life span.

Window unit

yup...let it sit for about an hour for the oil to come back to the bottom of the compressor before running it.

make sure also that the fan blades are freely turning, if they are binding a bit, try to re-oil the bushings of the fan motor.

tnx 4 using fixya,

I have a window a/c

Yes, the relay on the board is bad, but you have to replace the whole board. Maybe try ebay for replacement, but most likely repair will cost close to the same or more than a new a/c

The installation of a Maytag 6,000BTU Window Air Conditioner

Yes if it is heavy duty you can run the A/C on it. #12 wire is rated for 20 Amp service. Keep the length of the cord to a minimum. #14 wire is rated for 15 Amp service.

We bought a 8000btu air

The A/C is small for the application. If there is any sun shining into the room it will add heat. If the room is open to other rooms the square footage it is cooling will multiply in proportion. Using a thermometer check the temperature of the air going into it and the temperature coming off of it out the grills. If the difference in temperature is 20°F or greater it is doing the job it was designed to do. If you shut it off when you leave and turn it on after the day heat has built up it will not seem to overcome it.
