Is this a portable air conditioner? If so then the water needs to be dumped out of the reservoir and normal operation should ensue.

Our 5 year old maytag

Bought A/C in 2006. Used 1 yr - worked OK. Idle
Make sure there is no restrictions in the coils front or back. If the units compressor is running and was just low on freon it will ice up on the inside coil. If the compressor is not running it could be the temp switch or the capacitor. Make sure you have 220v at the plug in if its a 220 unit. Maytags are good units so look for hits on the coils that happened in installation or while stored if you see a obviouse dent ect... and its dirty or oily you may have popped a line and lost your freon. I hope this helps goodluck
We have a Maytag air
If the unit is in a room smaller than it should be it can cycle too quick.
If the air blowing out is too near the thermostat in the return air it can cycle too often.
The thermostat could be defective. It could be set for too narrow a range of temp which is not adjustable. Try it at different settings to see if that makes a difference.
