Hi,I would check if the compressor is starting... my first thought is that the compressor is either locked pu or not starting right because of a bad capacitor...
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will
not work or collect water.

I connected the hose adapter so that I can drain
I had the same problem. The plastic tube that routes the water out the back doesn't fit tightly. It took a couple of weeks but the bucket would fill and the darn thing would shut off.
My first attempt was to put a hose clamp over the adapter. The clamp was simple enough but then the bucket wouldn't go back in. Using a small saw, I carefully cut a notch in the bucket. WARNING: Make sure that whatever you cut doesn't reach low enough that when the bucket fills, the little float thingy shuts off the unit before it starts to leak. Anyway, that still leaked. The problem is that that plastic tube is stiff and slippery and doesn't seal well.
What finally worked for me was to take the adapter off, go to the hardware store and buy some clear plastic tubing. I found some that fit very tightly over the tube inside and, with the hose clamp, sealed well.
Problem solved.
UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON
I am having the same problem with mine. It's plugged in and everything looks as it should inside, but i can't get the thing to turn on.
The unit is several years old - the float keeps
If the float falling in tells you its full probably not. Unless the float floats off a switch. Then a new float that wont fall off would probably do it.
If the float keeps falling off...why not tie a small piece of fishing line to it and suspend it above the switch? It will stay where its needed until water lifts it up.
What size hose do I
Any standard garden hose will work, either the 1/2 inch or the 5/8. That's the only thing you need. Just get a cheap garden hose, since they are easy to work with and will last forever since it won't be subjected to the same kind of abuse it would see outside in the yard. There will be place on the tank or on a drip plate above the tank where you connect the hose just like connecting the hose to an outdoor hose bib. Your hose only needs to have the standard threaded female connector. You can cut off the other end of the hose to make the length correct. Since there is only gravity to feed the water through the hose, you don't want it to have to travel through a coil of extra hose length.
The digital humidistat does not
Hello,
It is possible it is low on freon and it can be recharge with freon, but before you conclude that it is low on freon, i will advice you try to clean the surface by using a pressure air pump to blow on the surface because the poor performance could be due to dirt on the surface of the unit.
If after vacuum the surface with the air pressure pump and the performance did not improve, then, it means it is low on freon and will need to be recharge.
Take care.
