Dishwasher leaves cloudy grit on everything

Is your state one the banned phosphates? If so, try adding a tablespoon of TSP to the detergent. If not, is there galvanized steel in your water supply? The grit in most washing aids removal of food on the dishes but is supposed to be gone by the rinse.

Water fills but no

Check the piece that connects the motor to the impeller. The original piece is plastic and can get stripped allowing the motor to spin without moving any water.

The Dishwasher is suddenly leaking heavily through

Take the bottom moving tray out then close door and see if leaking is still taking place. If so make sure the door is properly closed, then set machine to drain position. If water does not drain, clear the problem in the drain pump then retry. If pump is good, set program to start washing from the beginning.. Note if washing motor activates once water is in tub. Normally, water comes out of door if it has been forced open excessively by whatever manner, or if one of the two other components mentioned are defective.

Food particles remaining on dishes after cycle is

Hi

While putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams which causes food particles to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets ,be sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.

However the other causes for this problem are…

Not enough water entering dishwasher (check level after fill... Should be slightly below bottom wash arm)

Water filling but draining during wash cycle. Check toward end of wash cycle but before drain. See if water level is diminished from start of wash cycle.

New 'water saver' dishwashers are notorious for having smaller water jets, and thus easier to stop-up jets. Check the jets on all wash arms to be sure they are cleared of food particles.

Another way to check the wash arms is to manually position them at specific locations, momentarily run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then open the door to inspect the location of the wash arms. Do this three or four times to eliminate the possibility of coincidence.

If the wash arms do not move from the location that you put them, the most likely cause is food particles stopping up the water jets. These jets not only clean the dishes but also the water pressure they generate turn the arms inside the dishwasher to properly distribute water pressure on the dishes.

Sometimes you can dislodge and remove food particles stuck in one of the jets with a toothpick or other small probe. Others require that you remove the arm(s) and get a little more creative. I use compressed air to clear mine, but not everyone has access to compressed air, so use whatever you can to remove the food particles.

Simply dislodging them from the water ports is usually not effective... As soon as water pressure is applied, the particles return to the jets and stop them up again. The real fix in this instance is to completely remove the food particles from the arm if you can.

Let us know if you want to know something more else please accept the suggestion.

Unit will not start, normal wash lamp wont lite up

It sounds like you may have a failed key pad, the key pad control is part of the console.

The other component that may have failed is the control board, to determine which one has failed, you can do a test on the key pad. Below is the key and which terminals would be read with the ohm meter. You will hold the ohm meter leads on the pins that go to the console, then push the corresponding button on the chart, you will get meter movement if the key is good. Let me know if you need assistance with this test.

I have an old free standing Maytag portable

Power Dry uses a little more electricity when drying but does a good job.

Temp Boost will raise the wash temperature to clean better, this uses very little extra energy and works well, it may add a little time to the cycle

Energy saver will not dry the dishes or boost the water as hot as needed to sanitize. It will save about 2 cents per load.

If you need plastics to dry always put them in the top rack and use the power dry. Use rinse aid to help with drying.
