I have a mer5730aaw my

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine
whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is
defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single
assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC
(Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or
making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing

2. Gain access inside the control panel.

3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC

4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was

5. Turn the power back on.

6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound)

7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

After self clean cycle completed........oven not

Hi

These kinds of issues are usually caused in ovens if a self cleaning cycle is used after a long time. The issue can either be a bad door switch/lock assembly or the oven temp. sensor itself that has gone bad. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My oven works, but it won't get up to the right

check your element when you turn on your oven also you can do a continuity test to assure that there are no break spots in the element the next thing to check would be your oven tempreture sensor usually small metal rod along top with two wires hooked through the back wall of the oven if you look in your manual should give you for a spec and you can do an ohms test on the sensor if the sensor fails from what the spec states replace the sensor when checking the element make sure the element glows red other then this you would have to go into the back panel of your oven and do some power tests and comparing that to your tech sheet that the write amount of power is going to the right places check element and temp sensor first please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation and if there are any futher questions please message me back have a great day

What year was the Maytag MER5530 Electric Range

The manufacture date is determined by the SERIAL NUMBER. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576445-determining_the_age_of_your_maytag_appli

Look at the last two LETTERS of the serial number. The first letter represents the YEAR the appliance was manufactured. The second letter represents the MONTH.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven & broiler not heating on our Maytag

Hi,
May be the heating coil is bust?
The control panel is in parallel usually so as long as the controls are getting power they will turn on. But if the coil is gone you wont get heat. If you want to try fixing it, you may need a multimeter, or a continuity tester.

My oven won't work on bake but everything else is operational

Most likely have a bad heating element. Check for continuity in the element. Make sure to trip the breaker or unplug the unit before removing the element. 120 volts still run through the element even though it is not turned on. Takes 240 volts to make it glow red.

You have/had a stuck keypad. If it happens again just push all pads at random to try and unstick it. If it gets to be a nuisance replace the keypad membrane.

real easy trouble shoot, check the wiring diagram out and find where the line voltage goes into the board. if you have voltage to the board and no display it is very likely a bad board also make sure you have ground pathway from the board. you can have voltage to the board but if no ground pathway then the board will not work. a cheapo meter from sears etc. will work

Maytag Electric Range model MER5530

momhenry, usually the F1 codes means a bad touch pad membrane but the fact that you had it in self clean could indicate another problem. There are a couple of ways to indentify the real problem. First have someone ohm out the temperature sensor. It should read between 1100 and 1200 ohms at room temp. This is the probe that is in your oven. It will unscrew from the inside and have a harness. Unplug the harness and test it from there. If the sensor checks out, kill the power to the oven and remove the keypad ribbon from the main board. Plug the oven back in with the keypad ribbon off and see if the error code returns. If it returns and your sensor checks out, it's the main board. If it doesn't return it's your touchpad. With-out being there, my past experience with this model would lean toward the temp. sensor. Check this out first, Catriver...post back.

Stove ignitor does not light burner. How to fix ?

This may sound silly and I know your stove is gas, but is your stove plugged into a power outlet on the wall? Some older stoves had the igniters powered from a wall socket so had to be 'plugged in' and others are powered by replaceable batteries, (AA's or AAA's), with the pack being mounted low down on the front, near one of the front feet. If it is a battery type try changing the battery for a new one. Sometimes the fix is that easy.
