I have a Maytag Performa

Hello,

The problem with the oven not lighting believe it or not is going to be that the igniter is weak and not drawing the correct amount of power to allow the gas to flow.I know it would seem since the igniter comes on that it could not be the problem yet since it comes on to me a oven technician with 30 years experience the igniter is exactly what it is.

I have a sab error

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

The message you are receiving is not actually an error, but rather your range has somehow been set in "sabbath" mode ( for the Jewish calendar I think...not the band, lol ) If you have the owners manual refer to the section referring to this an it should instruct how to reverse the setting.

All ranges do it somewhat differently. This example is generic, hopefully it works. If you are unsuccessful let me know and I'll see if I can locate it.
Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to activate Sabbath mode. Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to disable Sabbath mode.
Oven must be in BAKE mode before enabling SABBATH. "SAb" displays and flashes for 5 seconds. All pad inputs are disabled except for CANCEL and CLOCK pads.

This mode disables the normal 12 hour shutoff to allow operation of the bake mode for a maximum of 72 hours.
Good luck. Thank you for choosing FixYa. If this does resolve the issue, please take a moment to rate the assitance I provided as well as your experience here at FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Broiler burns but the bottom

Hello,

FOR THE OVEN NOT HEATING

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake igniter is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake igniter(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of igniter make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake igniter. I know it seems improbable that if the igniter comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the igniter comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak igniter is the cause 100% of the time

FOR THE SURFACE BURNER NOT LIGHTING The holes on the burner espically those around where the electrode are dirty/clogged. By using a paper clip/safety pin to push in and clear the holes then clean the burner up with some steel wool the burner should light. GENE

Digital read-out no longer works.

You must replace the oven control. There is no reset.

Pressing stop time and cancel for three seconds should release the lock. if that doesn't work try unplugging it again for 15-20 minutes. If that doesn't work then you have a memory issue and ma need to replace your control board. Depending on how old the range is, I would advise you to contact the manufacturer to see if this part is covered under warranty.

Oven will not turn on f-1 code

Your oven control has declared it is faulty. You should replace it. But try this first. Remove that molex plug and hunt for corrosion before buying anything. Just cover the bases right? If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

Today the oven lit and

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

Apper 5 AB on disply

Your display is actually reading "SAB". This is an indication of a mode of operation rather than an error code. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608491-sabb_or_sab_explanation_kitchen_ranges

Sabbath Mode is a feature that allows the consumer to disable certain features of the range in order to honor the sabbath. Usually this disables the oven, but allows the consumer to still use the surface burners. You cannot defeat it by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker either. You will either have to wait 72 hours for the mode to clear, or figure out how to turn it off.

Somewhere in the owner/operator's manual is a section that refers to "Sabbath Mode". Since all ranges differ in features and operator, you need to refer to the operation section of your owner's manual to find out how to shut the feature off.

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, you need to press and hold the CLOCK button for 3 seconds, then use the arrow keys until 8:88 appears on the screen to clear Sabbath Mode. Release and the current time will reappear. The instructions are listed on Page 5 of the owner's manual.

If you can't find this information, or no longer have an owner's manual, you can download or print a copy for FREE at managemylife.com. Just enter your model number under the "Manuals" link and you will find it listed in .pdf (Adobe) format. I hope this helps you.

Can this gas range be converted to lp gas

moz-screenshot.pngmoz-screenshot-1.pngTurn off the gas supply.
Locate the gas valve regulator. Unscrew the top cap on the regulator, turn it over and re-install it.It should be marked NAT. LP.When correctly converted you will be able to read LP.
On the Performa all the conversion parts should just be adjustments. Remove the oven racks, remove the oven base pan, remove the oven flame spreader pan to access the safety valve. Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten the orifice on top of the gas safety valve. Tighten it until it is snug.Remove the top burners and raise the top to access the surface gas valves.Tighten the valve spuds until snug. Re-assemble all parts.Turn the gas back on and lite the burners. Turn them high and low to make sure they stay lit. If any burner is not right tighten or loosen the orifice spud for that burner only. All air shutter adjustments should be full open,
