i recomand you burn dvd-r. it`s safer

If it still does not work, then it's time to responsibly recycle it, and spend $40 to purchase a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

It is required to edit the registry files to fix this issue. Editing the registry incorrectly may cause series software issues in the Computer. Hence, please backup the registry before proceeding for editing.

To backup the registry, please open the run window and type regedit. Then in the Registry Editor window, please click File and click Export. Please select a location to save the file.

After saving the file, please proceed to edit registry.

Please click the "+" symbol next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, System, CurrentControlSet, Control, Class and click on the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

Then you can view the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values on the right pane of the Registry Editor window. Please right click on UpperFilters and select Delete, then select LowerFilters and select Delete.

After that close the Registry Editor window and restart the Computer.

This should fix it.

Its as simple as that.

Does the drawer open and close, when you push the button.
If so, you are getting electrical power to the drive.
If not, check that power-cable is still connected to the back of the drive.

If you don't hear the drive "spin" the CD, something is wrong with the hardware -- either it's not detecting that a CD is in the tray, or the motor that spins the CD has died.

Either way, spend $40 and buy a replacement CD/DVD-writer.
Remove the old one, and take it to a computer-store,
so that they can match the power and data connectors on the old drive with the power and data connectors on the new drive.

Hint: if you take the whole computer to a small computer-store, they may remove/install the drive for a small fee, if you buy the new drive from them.

First thing to try would be a different brand of disc, there is never any guarantee with which brand of disc working with any specific DVD writer.

If you have tried different brands of disc and the DVD +R still does not work, I would reccomend visiting the manufacturer's website and downloading a firmware update for you specific DVD drive.

Note: Be very careful updating the firmware on the DVD drive, if the wrong firmware is used - or the firmware process not done correctly you can damage your DVD drive.

is your drive a dvd burner, if not get one

You have to download aspi drivers and force aspi18. I had the same problem and this solved it!

Go into your software settings and change it to "do not loop playback"

After working with Roxio, if you find the software you're looking for, Roxio Tech Support will not be able to give you support. Try contacting Inside Sales or a Roxio Technician and see if they can give you a copy of the software again - it will just depend on where you purchased your original version.

try 3 things. ONE AT A TIME. #1 change your burn speed to a slower setting some dvd's will not burn as fast as they say on box.

#2.update firm ware for burner go to manufacturer's web site for your brand of dvds being used.

#3 change brand of DVD used. there are 3 major manufactures for almost all dvds and cd. The people who make disc for Sony and the other 2 companies that make everybody elses. (ie TDK,Memorex, etc....)

Sounds like the laser pick-up is not reading the disc, or the spindle motor is not spinning so the dvd can be read.
