Maytag MSD2756GES fridge not dispensing water or making ice

The first thing is how long has it been since you've changed the water filter. Its odd that both would stop at the same time and usually this is what causes it. If you change it and the problem persist continue to the next steps: Pull the machine out and remove the lower back cover. Locate the water valve. With the water turned on and connected remove the 5/16" water line (the bigger one) and then have someone else press the water in the door. If the cylinoid is operating correctly it should spray water out. If it is not operating properly it should at least hum and vibrate. BE SAFE IN DOING THIS NEXT STEP. With the machine plugged in but the wires that go to the valve for the dispenser off take a volt meter and place a lead to each wire and have someone press the panel in the door as if getting water. The reading should go from 0 to around 115-120 a/c.If your not getting electricity down there at anytime than thje door switch is bad. As far as the smaller line (1/4") you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. You can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked m and the other in the cicle marked n. Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Also check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jason_4570d45317834dd3

Water dispenser isnt working. Water is slowed to

Is there a water filter in the unit and if so, when was the last time you changed it? If there is a water filter and the flow of water to the dispenser and icemaker could be impeded by a filter full of "stuff".

Driping water

you have a blocked drain in the freezer.when the machine gets cold ice forms on the evap. coil that's located in the freezer and behind the inside freezer wall.when the machine goes into defrost the heater comes on and melts the ice off of the coil and it drains through the hole under the evap coil and then runs down to where the compressor is and then evaporates from the heat of the compressor and condenser coil, your drain is blocked so the water is now draining onto the floor.use a hair dryer to melt out the bottom draw if it's frozen in,remove it and look at the back wall,if you can't see the drain hole you'll have to remove the back inside wall of the freezer,to get at it,also unplug the machine or shut it down, you don't want to be blowing warm air into the machine or you'll have another problem the air ducts will freeze up.keep heating the drain hole with the hair dryer and any other ice you see,i use a steemer to clear the drain line but if you don't have a steemer you have to get something to push air through the drain like a turkey baster or similar, also 1/4 inch plastic hose like the kind you use on a fish tank works good, you can snake it through the drain line, when you think the drain is clear pour hot water into the hole if it drains through you're done if not keep hitting it with heat and use the turkey baster to try and push whatever is in there out to clear it,then pour hot water until it drains.it usually will take around 30 to 40 minutes to do this but with a steemer i get it done in around 10 to 15 minutes, good luck

My Maytag MSD2756GES side by side stoped working.

That is probably the overload on your compressor clicking. Remove the rear panel and listen for it. If thats it unplug ref. and remove compressor cover and remove the starting components. Shake the relay. If it sounds like its in pieces its bad. If not you may have a bad compressor, but I would replace those components first. Check your warranty for compressor.

No ice, water does not fill ice maker, but water

if Ice maker cycles and you get no water into it you have a clogged/frozen fill tube. If a broken line the water would go on your floor every 15 min. None of those indicates your refrig valve is bad. Dual solenoid water side works Ice doesn't.

My freezer is automatically defrosting how do i

Your freezer is SUPPOSED to automatically defrost. If it does not defrsot by itself, within a week so frost will be built up in the freezer no cold air will flow into the fresh food compartment and soon ALL the food in that compartment will be runied followed soon after by the stuff in the freezer. Unless something is wrong with the defrost cycle it defrst for 25 minutes every 72 hours (3 days) and make it so everything is in good working order and air flows as it is intended too. If your experiencing the defrost staying on for more that a hour at a time thats a problem but if it defrost about every 3 days all is well and should be left alone to work just fine as it was designed to do.

Ice maker not working

Hi mark54688,
Truly the is no easy answer, but maybe I can point you in the correct direction. An ice maker needs power, temps below 17 degrees to function. In the pass I noticed a problem with the fill tube that brings in water from the back of the unit would freeze up causing no production of ice. The fill tub cam be removed from the back of the unit and cleared out and reinstalled, only problem is that if the fill tub freezes, you should replace the water valve located bottom right side from the back of the unit. I normally what to replace the valve after clearing the tub to see if the fill tub re-freezes again though. I am not a person to just replace parts. Good Luck

How do you check the defrost control to see if it

DEFROST PROBLEM
The evaporator coil behind the cover on the back wall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10 hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronic adaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on to melt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater from overheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reaches close to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrost cycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle.

If this ice is not melted it will continue to build up until the air can't flow over the coil to circulate the cold air through the freezer and into the fridge. The temperature change in the fridge is usually noticed first followed by the freezer.

If the defrost thermostat is bad, it can prevent the heater from coming on OR it won't turn the heater off when it gets too warm. It is clamped to the evaporator coil at the top to sense the temp. If it appears to be misshapen it is bad.
With an ohm meter it should show continuity when cold and none when warm.
You can also bypass(disconnect the two wires plugged into it and twist them together) the thermostat to see if the heater comes on then. If it does then you know the thermostat is bad and needs replaced.

The defrost heater is located on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can also go up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot if it's bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end when disconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring for voltage when it's in the defrost mode.

If you have a defrost timer you can test it. It can be located under the fridge behind the kick panel on the front. Some are in the fridge with the controls at the top. You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer because that means the timer is not running. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

If you have an adaptive defrost control instead of a timer, replace it if the heater and thermostat test good. It is located in the fridge with the controls in some models and on the back in others.
