Sound only works in VID
Just adust the system reception to auto mode in your tv and retry. You can do it through remote control menu, going to sound options. Check tha sound system to auto. If the Tv has only PAL and SECAM system; NTSC signals do not output sound. If the tv is multi system compactable, making system reception mode to auto may help you.
Set is plugged in --- there is power to the set -

check the fuses on the main circuit board F-1 is AC F-2 is DC power

The set turned off. Now the power light will not
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be a horizontal/vertical circuit issue and/or a power supply issue. You’ll need to open the back of the unit and check/test HOT (horizontal output transformer) and flyback, replace the part that has gone bad. Also check the power supply board for any bad components. This is only recommended if you have electrical expertise. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

No pix/sound, just high pitched whistle
Ur tv the high voltage it dead, the FBT,the flyback transformer. The big black block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap that hook up to the CRT(tv tube) is dead. The FBT,flyback transformer needed it to be replaced to solved this problems.Call the shops, take estimates for the best deal to do the repair. This is one of the main part of the tv to put HV in CRT(tube tv).It pretty hard to find this FBT these day, because of the discontinue of making of Amalog tvs.

it seems that you enabled parental lock. on the user's guide, it says that you'll need a remote to unlock the tv.
RCA makes a wide range of universal remotes that work perfectly on RCA tvs (i have 1), just make sure that the remote has buttons like menu, 4 arrows and enter.
here's the user's guide of your tv, check page 28 to understand parental control and page 25 to retrieve the password.
The TV is 5yrs. old, worked beautifully during

Please download the above service manual. have a look through it, this is the manual, used to train, engineers to troubleshoot & service these sets.
it is my professional opinion though that everyone should take their units to their manufacturers approved service center, contacting a head office, RCA in your case, and asking for a referral to an Authorised Service center. The getting to an approved service center is just SO important, it is even worth the extra to ship it You see, at those places, the Engineers, are trained on the equipment you have, they usually have parts on hand, and do the job quicker. Anyway do that and get a "Quote". This way, at least, you'll know weather to repair or replace.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems you have to
replace the power supply board of the TV. You can also open the back off the TV
and check it yourself for bad power supply board. All
this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to
solder/re-solder components. Please do accept the solution if the issue
is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
