There should be setting menu on tv whereby you can select RCA or optical.samsung units have automatic selectivity when you use optical cables so they will gives instant output when switched on....make sure you pull off the plastic ends covers ,they only go in one way into the connection ports.if you only have RCA leads you may have to set up the output audio on tv menu.
@Judy McDougall"RCA TV Woman nattering non-stop" :)Hi JudyThis is 'possibly' your on screen "TV Doctor" voice. My LG VCR also has this feature. On the VCR her name is "Video Doctor".Phrases like "This-is-the-main-menu...".RCA maybe similar to LG so maybe try this:Go to menu.Look for something like settings or on-screen voice, or something 'Doctor'.Hope it helps.Clive.Edit: Just saw a similar old question, answered thanks to @Tom Chichester Nov 1, 2016.Tom's advice:You have the second audio program (SAP) enabled. Return to the initial set up procedure to disable it.
Where is the manual that came with your sub? If self powered it needs an audio input usually on a red or white cable. Yellow is usually reserved for video signal.
There are no audio outs on your TV The digital audio out is an optical output meant for a sound bar or a stereo audio amplifier that has an optical input. If you have a compatible stereo system you can use an optic cable to connect the two and then use the headphone jack on the stereo system.
