Please help me to rectify

Hi rrcholan,
  • Optical drives never require a driver when used in Windows other than the one packaged with the OS. So, I would take the following steps.
  • First, open the device manager, uninstall the sh-m522c, then

    • Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform- http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

    • Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files

    • Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.

    • Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.

    • If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"

    • Reboot

Windows should see the drive and reinstall the drivers.

If this helps resolve your issue, would you please rate the solution. If this does not help, please leave a comment giving me more information on the problem and I will try to help you further.

What is CSM/SLA -of CD-RW

It's not CSM/SLA. The letters CSM are directly over SLA, and they are vertically read as CS, SL, MA -which stand for Cable Select, Slave, and Master. They are found on IDE drives as the jumper points. Depending on where the drive is connected on an IDE cable, the jumper should match accordingly. CS is often used for either, preferably when there are no other devices on a single IDE cable.

Updated my PC and took

You may need to update the firmware if the DVD is much over a few years old, then it simply may not be communicate right with the PC.
I have found that many of the "Older" DVD's CD simply do not work, with some modern PC's.
First though you need to establish if the DVD actually works, at all. to do this you need to really have it work in a generation of machine that it was made for, now if it works there, then it's most likely firmware that's stopping it, however if it doesn't work, there, either, the the answer is then obvious the DVD is faulty.
Over the years I have found, that 9/10 if the attached devices don't "Just Work" then there is a fault with the actual device, when they work, properly, it is easy to set them up, any problem usually mean a bad device. Sometimes it can be a setting etc, but most times i find, it is the device.
All one can ever really do, is try the suspected faulty on another PC, see if the "Fault" follows the DVD, if it does, then the DVD is faulty, if it works, on one PC, but not on another, then it may be a setting, or Firmware upgrade is needed. you need to check out the Samsung website for any Firmware upgrades, also trawl the net too... that's of course if you need it.

TSSTcorp CDW/DVD SH-M522C can read

You could pay a qualified technician $25 to $50 to try to trouble-shoot the problem, or you could buy a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer for $40, to replace your "failing" device.

Your choice ???

It's about aproduct informaion

Yes Samsung does provide satellite receivers in its product family,

Here are some samples

DSB-B350V

DSB-B350W

DSB-B270V

DSB-150F

These receivers can be seen on Samsung website promoting Sat Receivers

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/settopbox/productSubType.do?ctgry_type=37&ctgry_subtype=50

The receivers produced today have a huge capabilities compared to what was offered 30 years ago when the craze started. These were the isolated communities that started to recognize the difference between Cable and Sat entertainment. You could freely tune into raw signals mobile units sent out like football games and similar new mini casts. Now the receivers along with proper reception capabilities, your reception dish and the quietly of your reception head. It all depends on what you want, 100 channels or 3000 channels?

The manufactures like Samsung have been providing the ability to receive NTSC & PAL signals and watch in the format you utilize depending the region of the world you are. Except for the US Market, this is because the entertainment originated in the US so why offer something not needed. Now with the worldwide internet and the ease of manufacturing a signal unit able to operate on any voltage system

110-240 at either on 50-Ghertz or 60-Ghertz cheaper and the simplicity can produce a higher quality dependable product. So even the US market is able to benefit finally from conversion capable reception from either DVD players or Sat receivers, including DVR recorders. As for your Net-Share or being able to receive free signals, Samsung is able to receive general signals provided free, not really difficult to set up a system to be capable of this, but you are still limited as to the actual amount of channels available. I think you’re more interested in receiving your entertainment without the annoying charges and monthly key updates necessary to view a provider’s decision on what it rebroadcasts from the entire amount of original broadcast they actually receive.
