How to quit Protect mode

You don't quit it, you resolve it. It's there for your safety.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

No voice sound through speaker with DVD system, only music?

first check the settings on the audio menu of the dvd player. make sur it is set to 5.1 (if available) otherwise set it to stereo and your system should decode it.
assuming the second step is okay : as other dvd you play seem to work) it still may be that your unit is decoding stereo inputs just fine and 5.1 is not working properly....
so if adjusting audio settings in dvd play back menu dont work,
check that the cables to the satellite speakers are connected correctly and all plugged in soundly ( voice is high frequency,- coming from satellites - the garbled noises you hear are the base ( low freq) elements of voice which are coming from the bass box ( that the X.1 part of 5.1) and so that is obviously working. ,

I was moving around my large woofer speaker last night and then all of a sudden the unit went into protection mode. I tried all the various solutions posted on here and nothing worked. Then I went back to my speaker connections on the woofer and unplugged them and plugged them in again and it seems to be ok now. Very annoying problem. Can I suggest unplugging all the speaker cables and replugging them back in. Also another solution may have been holding down the power button when powering up the unit. Give all the above a try.

Problem "protect"

Hey guys, just had the same problem and found out it was because I had disconnected the central speaker. This it was creating a back impedance or something and reonnecting did the trick! i.e. check your speaker connections and check that they work... duff speakers could cause the problem too!

SAMSUNG HT-Q9 displays PROTECT and then switches

I suspect that the control circuit is sensing a fluctuation in the power supply and going in to protect mode. (assuming that the protect circuit itself is working properly) If a voltage is too high the unit will go in to protect mode to prevent damage to the speakers and the rest of the unit. Expect a 60 to 80 dollar repair charge depending on how many parts need to be replaced and what the repair labor rate is in your area.Hope this will help........

The samsung ht-tq85 system stopped

This unit is known to lose disc spindle velocity with usage which could fail it from reading the discs. The solution might be to change the motor. I am assuming you are getting some sort of "disc erro" message. Have you checked the rest of the system is playing ok, eg. radio, USB device etc to confirm the unit is funtional. Please do post a comment to clarify your observations.

Samsung Home theater goes into Protection mode

no and yes . there is a short in the circuit board where the fan is. i had the same problem and i fixed it by takeing a power adapter out of a old alarm clock.(part where it plugs in then a little box with two wires.)i cut the outlet plug(big thick wires) off about 6 in down from the little box.then striped the wires and hooked them to the outlet plug on the surround system.(just twisted them where it connects to the large power adapter)(i used some electrical nuts to fasten them down)then i screwed it somewhere on the side and then striped the skinny wires and cut the fan wires at the base and attached them to the skinny wires.(twist them together a and put electrical tape around it)problem with this is that the fan won't go off unless you put a switch on it.if you got any questions feel free to email me at [email protected]
