Samsung DVD-VR330: Disk Tray won't open

The solution is to unplug the machine and wait 10 secs. and plug it in again. I have to do this often. another part of the problem may be that some of the blank disks are bad. I got the DVD+R at Staples and about 4 out of 10 were able to be formatted. I am about to try the DVD-RWs.

The disc cannot be played

Find the unit's spec sheets on INET. Try cleaning with DVD cleaner disk. Try unplugging the unit for a day. Open box and clean the laser "eye", carefully. Don't try recording AT&T movies, in fact don't connect it. Regards

How to format a dvd

This unit is tricky. If it doesn't load it to format, it may not like that brand, or the eyeball may need cleaning. You can try using a cleaner disk, but the only way I've been able to keep mine runnig is to open the box CAREFULLY, and clean the eyeball. But first if you never disconnected it from power, try that for a few days. Sometimes you can get it to work again - that seems to allow the power to run down inside and allows it to "reboot". Remove the DVD unit coverplate and with a cotton swab and alcohol, very gently touch the "eye' in a circular meotion. I think you can find instructions and diagrams on the internet. It takes a little know-how but your average tech will just tell you to buy a new unit. I had 3 and one by one they became unuseable, so only one will record now, and funny thing somestimes it will even read a DVD-RAM. Often it will read a RAM and allow me to copy it to tape. A second unit I only use to connect dish to the TV. I can't say what DVD brand will record on yours but I have used Maxell -RW, Sony-RW, and Memorex -RW. Oddly, I never had a lot of luck with a -R. If you get it to format, record something a few seconds - I call that priming. Then view it. But do not remove that disk until you are through with it and then finalize it. I find it likely if it comes out not finalized it will not load again. If after cleaning, you cannot get a disk to load, well, you have a good tape recorder, and I find tapes most convenient, much less tricky. BTW, none of my 3 could I get to play a store bought video DVD movie. I seldom record on mine now, preferring to keep it for just home movies. Disks are not that reliable. I've found library disks that were filthy and scratched, yet would play, and some almost never checked out would play. If I looked carefully with light at a slant I could see some kind of deposits forming under the surface. Regards

My Samsung DVD/VHS recorder the DVD won't close after playing DVD

Never force it, just use the remote. If it won't stay in, unplug the unit and wait a while. I think we get viruses from the TV signal which might be temporary (hopefully).

Could not finalize disc because of error detection

First try reinserting, but it's probably hit a bad spot.Might be useable as a data disk. Do a complete format which will lock out the bad spots.

Samsung DVD-VR330 unit will not accept a brand new blank DVD-RW disc---machine says 'load' for 20 seconds, before saying 'open', which it does.

The DVD-RW will work at random, some brands will wok better than others. Memprex, Sony, Maxell are 3 I can use sometimes. Once the disk is accepted it must be formatted. Click that and if accepted, first do a record for say 2 minutes to see if ti works. If it works don't take it out until you're ready to finalize it.That's mostly so the disk will be readable in other players, should it not want to go back in, you probably lost the record.Don't write on the back, use a card and keep it in the cover.Sometimes I can use those disk's in PC for data.regards

Samsung dvd_vr330 wont play pre recorded discs

The VR330 has several problems similar to this, and some can be "fixed" by unplugging the unit and let it set for anywhere form 5 mins to several days.I think the control software gets messed up.I had 3 - one wouldn't play a "video" movie, another would record RAM, and another wouldn't do DVD-R/RW.Surprisingly one day I accidentally put a DVD-RAM with recordings on it and the unit accepted the RAM. The disk had been protected on another device. On that particular unit I had neglected to set the time which was at factory 2006, so I left it there.

Can't copy to DVD

Most movies , on VHS , need a small decryption device to get rid of the ( Macrovision) protection, which will not let you record from VHS to DVD. I have one here that I use , works perfectly. It also decrypts from DVD to DVD , in case you need to back up a movie. Kids are allways banging DVD with scratches and it's not to copy the original & give them the copy to mess with, that way you allways have a perfect one in stock. If you ever need a converter , I have one left but works great. emailme:[email protected] if interested?

I bought this unit new

It seems laser optical block is not working thus unit ejects the disc with "this disc cannot be played" message.
Please clean optical lens with cleaning disc and if unit still does not play, use good quality cotton swab/ q-tip to clean optical lens manually and check.
Unit will take apart for lens cleaning manually.
If problem still not solved then optical laser block is defective and need to be replaced that would cost you more than unit worth.
hope these info will help.
Thanks.
