Software does not pass windows xp logo test
spider1976,
A FireWire connection would definitely help you out here, as they are designed to be much faster and of better quality than a standard Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection. Whoever told you USB is faster is definitely misinformed, or have unusual software issues with FireWire
Transfer video from tape to computer
mjtlj:
You will need a firewire cable to successfully transfer video from your tape to your computer. It also greatly helps to have a firewire port on your computer. Once you have connected your firewire port on your camera to the firewire port on your computer, you can use windows movie maker to transfer video to your computer. (File > Import for Digital Video Camera)
If this has helped you, please report this problem as fixed :)

Lost LCD Screen
You MAY just have a dirty playback head. Purchase a head cleaning tape (Bestbuy, Target, etc., for about $20) and try cleaning your playback head. Colored lines is ONE symptom of a dirty head. A blue screen is ANOTHER. I had that symptom yesterday (9/7/07), got a cleaning tape and solved the problem. I can now again see on the LCD display what I recorded on the tape.
Good luck.
Capture video not responding - driver issue
Are you using the USB cable that came with the camcorder? If so, then don't use it, because it doesn't work for loading from mini DV tapes to other devices. Instead, buy a IEEE 1394 "FireWire" cable (whether 4/6/ pin, whatever you need)in order to pass the videos from the camara to the computer.
note: DO NOT buy a cable that has a USB on one side and a IEEE 1394 on the other side, thus it doesn't work. You must buy a cable that has both IEEE 1394 ports on both sides.
How do I get my Samsung sc d 353 mini DV tape recordings on computer
To transfer the recordings from your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV tape to your computer, you'll need to follow these steps:
1. Connect the camcorder to your computer: Use a FireWire (also called IEEE 1394) cable to connect your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV camcorder to your computer. Most computers have a FireWire port, but if yours doesn't, you can purchase a FireWire adapter card.
2. Turn on the camcorder: Turn on your Samsung camcorder and set it to VCR mode.
3. Open the video capture software: On your computer, open the video capture software that came with your operating system (e.g. Windows Movie Maker, iMovie on Mac) or a third-party video capture software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) that supports Mini DV tape.
4. Start recording: In the video capture software, select the option to capture video from a DV device. Click the Record button in the software and then press Play on the camcorder to begin playing the Mini DV tape. The video should be captured and recorded onto your computer.
5. Save the video: Once the video has been captured, you can edit it if necessary and then save it to your computer in the desired format.
Note: If you do not have the original video capture software, it is recommended that you search and download compatible software before beginning the transfer process. Additionally, make sure your computer has enough storage to store the transferred files.
