Hello,

The frost is supposed to automatically be defrosted by the auto defrost system in your freezer, but their is a failure in that system so frost continues to build up. That is a fairly common thing wrong when a freezer works yet the refrig side gets warm,in fact is so common i have written a tip covering what to check when it occurs so i would not have to constantily write the same thing over and over..here is that tip http://www1.fixya.com/support/r10097882-wrong_when_freezer_frosted_refrig_warm

Hi! I know this may sound weird, but you should try to wash it with vinegar, plain vinegar will do the trick. Also, I don't know if you have this in your country, but sour lemon it is good too, for this kind of situations.
After this treatment it is applied, wash it with a cleaning solution mixed with water, then rinse with simple water.
I hope this will help you! Have a nice day!

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Check cold control (thats where you turn it colder)

Hi,
I have looked up your unit and have some questions. Is there frost in the freezer? If so how much? Do you have air flow to the refrigerator section coming in from the top left? This model has a defrost timer located in the control area of the refrigerator section and you can manual advance it to verify defrost cycle if need be. I would need those questions answered to assist you further....

Thanks kidlmo

Hi,
The control board is located behind a panel on the back of the fridge...

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

The handle screws probably are hidden behind the plastic door liner which would have to be removed to gain access.

Spray it with kitchen cleaner. Scrub it with a Scotchbrite pan scourer to remove oxidisation. Spray it again, rub, rinse, and dry. Rub Vaseline on it. It will probably outlast you.

If it did fail, the copper tube will pit and let the refrigerant gas leak out slowly until one day you find it isn't cooling. A refrigeration engineer could replace the pipe and re-gas it, but at 18 years old, it would be time to treat yourself to a new one.

Whoever did the soldering didn't wipe off the flux, which is acidic.
