This can be for a number of reasons.

First thing would be to try and cold boot the device:-

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger

If that fails next thing would be to try and re-flash the operating system. This is done by using an SD card and loading the latest operating files onto it. The SD card slot is located under the keypad. A cross head screwdriver is required to remove the keypad. Search on symbol software download site for the latest. The download also has a readme with detailed instructions. Once the files are on perform a cold boot.

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger. Drop the terminal in a cradle so that it runs on external power.

Hope this helps.

Hello jumpmaster. When an MC90XX does this, it means that something has gone wrong with the Operating System file execution. Sometimes a cold-boot can fix it (instructions below). If not, then there is a problem with the OS files. If you purchased your MC90XX from Motorola/Symbol you should be able to download a copy of your OS to reinstall. The file will include a readme.txt that will walk you through the process. I hope this solves your problem. Good luck!
  • To Cold Boot
  1. Press the primary battery release to partially eject the battery.
  2. While the battery is partially released: simultaneously press and release the trigger and power button.
  3. Push the battery back in until it clicks.
  4. The MC90XX should power up and start it's boot-sequence.

IPhone Google Maps not Talking

On iPhone go to Settings. Scroll down to Maps and touch. Scroll down to Driving and Navigation and touch. Scroll down to Navigation and Voice Volume and ensure that Loud Volume is checked. Push the upper volume button on the side of the iPhone to max ring volume. But this is not all. Here is the secret, which it took me a long time to find out from an obscure post on the web. Open google maps and choose your location (location services must be on) as origin and some other place as destination. Touch Start (varies by screen, whether you have chosen the little angle arrow for directions or are on another screen -- no matter). Now here is the key part of it. Immediately after touching Start, push the volume up button on the side of the iPhone and keep pushing. A little volume symbol will appear on the screen with ascending bar, and you'll start to hear the voice. The problem is that the volume button works with google maps ONLY when the google maps voice is speaking (which happens for a very short time immediately after you touch Start, so you have to be quick). At other times the volume button controls ring volume, not map voice volume. Since you can't hear the google voice in the first place, you don't know when to push the volume up button to make it louder, and you can't change the volume unless the voice is speaking. The above procedure worked for me after I tried many other things and also heard from some sites that it was the new operating system that had disabled the maps voice, which is not the case. I am using an iPhone 5C with IOS 10.3.3. This may not work with other phones. Not responsible for errors or omissions. Your results may vary. Good luck to all.

Hello Richard

It sounds as though your computer is set to the incorrect keyboard. I use a key board which I brought from the UK. The computer set me up with a US Keyboard settings. The @ symbol was hiding double quote " key. Short term I could press Shift+2 and get the @. What I did eventually was to go into Settings and change;
Settings - Devices - Typing - Advanced Keyboard Settings

So you have two choices

Change the keyboard settings
Go to the place on your keyboard where the symbol you see when you type is located on the keyboard. Pressing that will get you the @ symbol.

click COMMENT under my post if you need further help.

is your router or firewall blocking it? are your setting correct? Sounds like an access problem- there should be an error code or message associated with that exclamation.
good luck
