"Battery being charged" indicates that this is a laptop. Auto shutting down indicates that you are having issues with the power supply/brick. One thing to try is another known good power brick. Otherwise it is likely your power inverter inside the laptop.

The actual switch is rare to go, the DC jack in the laptop is more likely the issue and will require a complete tear down to access.

Ok, It looks like you have a DSL connection for your internet service. The problem you are having is that you are missing the WEP key inorder to connect to the modem with a secure link. The Modem has to be set to use WEP security and then there are a number of security keys that can added for security. Your modem is not configured for WEP, otherwise you would not be able to connect to it with no security.

You will have to read the information and access the modems setup features to enter the keys. You may have to go to the manufacturers web site and download the manual from it. If Verizon does not give you access to the modem for adjustment then you may need to have them setup the wep and email you the keys so you may copy and paste them into your connection configuration. Depending on the security level of the modem the longer the key the more secure. Some modems use a transmit key and a receive key in order to make the connection more secure. I would also check the modem and see if it has any options for WPA security, which are much better than the WEP. On any computer that connects to the network you have to create the connection with the WEP key or keys. If the modem uses these different keys then you have to match them. Say the modem WEP key is X to transmit and Y to receive, then the computers WEP would be set to Y to transmit and X to receive. The keys are also case sensitive numbers and letters, and the longer the better for network security. The manual will tell you the allowable maximum length you can use for the key. You can use the same key for transmit and receive if you wish to make it easier on you, but it all boils down to the type of security you programmed into the modem.

Read the owners manual for the modem and then you will have an idea what and how to get the two wireless connections to talk securely to each other. Currently your system is wide open and anyone can log on to your system without security, even the next door neighbor. Good Luck, RAC

Thanks for that.

Ok the onlything that springs to mind is:

1. The bios needs to be reset asit has lost settings. This could happen IF you have installedsomething OR if it has become corrupt. Just access your Biosand reload the standard default settings.

2. Your hard drivehas a fault. The best thing you can do is to boot up from youremergency floppy (if you made one) or from your original windows CD. Once done, simply run scandisk/chkdisk/defrag and let it do what itneeds.

Sorry I could not help you more, but that is the onlything I can think of that would be stopping you booting further. Personally it sounds like the bios has lost settings and may betrying to boot from another drive ... but of cause it may be thatyour hard drive has become "sticky" or has errors that arecausing the problems.

Good luck with it.

If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region and Passkey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region.
There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

Hello,
Do you have a wifi card in the computer? It is a hardware part that you need so that the computer can connect to the wifi. If you have that but can't find it in the operating system. I suggest that you either install or update the driver for it.
You can use RadarSync to scan your computer for the available updates of your wifi driver. Make sure that you connect to the internet first using your ethernet so that it will detect the available driver updates somewhere in the databases of the manufacturer.
