How to open case of Optiquest q7
Almost all LCD monitors use kind of the same enclosure. On the back or on the bottom there may be two screws. If so, remove them. If not, no worries. On the bottom you should find a couple of indentations in the plastic where the front and back join. I like to use a Radio Shack fiberglass flat bladed diddle stick. Put this into the indentation and push up. This should release the bottom. Now the trick. Use this diddle stick (it must be flat bladed) on the front. Using only your fingers gently lift the plastic case on the front away from the screen. You should see the metal case of the screen. Begining at the local right or left put the diddle stick between the metal only part of the screen and the plastic front. Reminder. This stick must be between the metal screen enclosure and the plastic front only. Once in this position, you can slide the stick upwards along the metal case. As you do the plastic case will pop away from the rear case. Provided there are no screws you missed. Now do the same on the other side and then the top. You should now have separated the front case from the rear case. Next take apart the metal shielding (usually screwed together). There may be metal tape placed in strategic places, make sure you gently unloosen this tape and reapply when you're finished. Hope you know what you're doing from here! If not check out my website

Monitor Goes black, or flickers on and off
The high pitch sound is coming from the inverter. It is faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, this lamp gives the backlight to the LCD so you can see the LCD images.

My screen is on but its blank the display light
which monitor do you connect to PC? has it worked togehter already?
please check if monitor is connected to graphic card of PC,
if yes and still same result after reboot, wire it up to another PC-tower, to doublecheck it is not broken..
if it's a laptop you are using and the internal display is malfunctioning you may be in trouble...
(see a technician, then
good luck)

Power to Screen but does not come on. Wiggling
It sounds like there is a cold socket on the internal power input of your monitor. Have a repair technician take a look at it. It should be relativley cheap fix if that is the case.

Blank screen
probably failure in the LCD controller IC in the lcd controller board. that no signal was sent out to the lcd driver IC thus you could only see white display. A replacement of LCD panel is the best solution. I suggest to bring the unit to an authorized service center to properly diagnose & fix the problem. regards

Screen goes blank after few seconds
My screen goes black after a few seconds and will not come back on unless I turn it off. When I turn it back on it does the same thing. I can not get it to come on at all.

The monitor blinks
That is a faulty inverter.
The inverter is an high voltage board that supply power to the back light lamp. In your case it is faulty and it is cutting power every now and then.
The part should be tested and replaced.

Monitor not working
You can check the date of manufacture on the back of the monitor. If the monitor is over a year old there is no warranty repair. It's possible to get it repaired locally you'll just need to find a repair shop.

Solid line completly across screen, monitor is brand new
Your comp's video card refresh rate (in Hertz, abbreviated Hz) may not be totally compatible with the monitor. Check the properties of your video card, and change the refresh rate (you may have to look around for it) to 60 Hz. This is a pretty standard refresh rate that works with just about every monitor. If it's already there, I'm afraid someone else will have to try and help!
Hope this helps, and please rate my answer, good OR bad.
Good luck!

Speakers
you need to ensure that the speaker lne cable is connected, this should be a double ended 3.5 jack plug cable, one end plugs into the back of the monitor, the other goes into your speaker port on the motherboard of your computer, sometimes there is a power cable required too

Viewsonic VX2835wm monitor that powers up with a good screen for a couple of seconds and then goes blank. I replaced the power board and it still does the same thing. Could it be the on/off switch?
FIRST WE DO NORMAL AND LATER TRUE CAUSE.
gee that is normal on all monitors and by Energy Star laws too.
the monitor if the PC is dead or in speed mode, shuts of in 15 to 90 seconds, all do, every one. the monitor has self sleep, all do. everyone ever made did. even back to CRT days.
and the OSD button goes dead after. that. too. fooling the untrained.
here is the first tests, NO PC connected at all
power on see power light glow correct color
then see Viewsonic splash screen push the menu button now. quickly, if button dead hold it for 10 to 15 second to reverse the button lock now, see OSD works.
if you test the monitor on a good PC not in sleep mode the but working PC, your monitor is ok.
this monitor is very very old, 2004?
it has CCFL back lamps not LED<
and all fully used CCFL lamps are now no good, used 8yrs a day at 5years are no good. that is why we use LED back lamps now.
this is what they do: all do , used fully.
1: goEs dead forever, (vast did)
2: INTERMITTANT . (BINGO YOU ) OR INVERTER DEAD.
3: DIM BULBS (like me. lol)
4 TURN YELLOW FOR WHITE screens.
5: STROBEs. (FLASHes)
AND A VERY EXPENSIVE SURE, THAT. AND LABOR.

Viewsonic VX2880ML 4K monitor, front vontrols won't work, help.
power on and power on led glows normal , not yellow or flash.
then this happens splash. attached, 2014 made.
then that tells you screen is NOT DEAD is it? now? here?
(PC is dead or missing)
- NO connections on 1 or more inputs.
- NO sync
- no signal
- OUT OF RANGE
and goes black screen NEXT,. if all that fails power supply is bad.
if all that works the menu button works for 15 seconds turned on with no PC, and also works on all PCs if connected to one that are all good and not sleeping. test the monitor on 2 PCs if confused.
