My monitor(Viewsonic VA912b) flashes on and then
Could be a few things.
It could be the resolution settings.
It could be that your monitor isn't connecting to your computer. In this case you would have to get a card for the monitor to plug into.
It also could be that it's not supported by the OS.

White screen, power switch not functioning.
Unplug it, reset it. Did it come with install disk? Try running that with your old monitor. The system may not recognize it as plug and play or the monitor may be defective. Call Tiger Direct or whoever you bought it from for support.

The colors on my monitor are faded/bright always changing.
Right click on your desktop (not an icon but a blank space), click "personalize", click on the tab on the far right(settings), click the drop-down menu on the left side above the colored banner, make sure it is set to the most colors(usually 32). If you need a walkthrough for Vista I can provide that as well.

ViewSonic VA912b monitor fading out during boot
It is probably the power supply, or the inverters.
Similar problem with solution, though it requires you to know something about electronics.

19" Sansung monitor
you need to set the resolution to 1400x900, if this is not an option in the Display settings you should download the apropriate driver for you graphics card.
once you have ascertained what make (nvidia or ATi), and model, go to one of the following for the latest drivers.
- nvidia; http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- ATi; http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
After installation and reboot, you can then select 1400x900 screen size i the display settings.

19" Samsung Monitor Image size function, distroted
Yes, this can be reset by pulling up your video card utility window. this should be located on the right hand side of the task bar. it should be a background utility. Just reset all settings to default in the video res tab...

Display appearing stretched
the original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.

Not getting good quality pic with viewsonic va 1912w4
Usually crisp picture is the product of a device driver that can handle the native resolution of the LCD panel. For 1912 it is 1280x1024.
Try downloading the latest driver.
If that doesn't help, then GeForce 6200LE 256MB is a good and affordable video card that can do the job.
