I have read through the user manual for your device. It doesn't seem to cover issues with two sided prints on ID cards. I recommend calling Zebra for support. Here is their contact information: Good Luck..

Mechanical error can be a lot of things, you have to take the printer to a tech so he can open and see if orange ribbon its lose and need to be replaced.

Dont worry, this is not error! The printer is asking to continue with calibration procedure:
After a few seconds, the printer prompt for the black card when it displays "INSERT BLACK CARD" so, Feed the black card through the front of the printer (where the card exits through) with the black side up, until the printer takes the card in automatically. You will get one of two results: a. RIB SENSOR PASS. Indicates the ribbon sensor was calibrated successfully.

It gets lighter then very light, then you cannot see it at all.

Please check you don't have a card jam.You should go to Driver(Start/Printer and Drivers). Then go to tools, select eject card. If you have a card stacked it will eject it or try to move. Don't try to take it out with your hand.

Printer and Drivers(W XP), Printers(W Vista or higher version) Go to the driver by right clicking and printer preferences, then go to the tools settings, you will see the possibility to print a Test Card...Print it. If nothing happens and you are sure you have the supplies, Connection and power, it means you should check on the cable.
