Subwoofer stopped working

Put another known working speaker in there to see if it works. If it does then the issue is with your speaker. If it also does not work your amp is to blame.

You are probably running the ohms too low for the amp and its drawing too much current. Consult your amp manual for proper load level capacity and you can wire it accordingly. More then likely its only 4ohm stable bridged and your running it at 2 or less depending on if your subs have single or dual voice coils. Try connecting one pos speaker terminal to the other speaker neg then run the left ofer pos on one speaker and the the left over neg directly to the amp (series) I will raise the ohms (amp makes less power) but should not cut off unless the subs ohm are still to low, if this is the case you need a sub with a higher ohm rating or an amp wiht a lower rating...

I just picked up a 12

Not to insult you in any way but u need to know how to wire into car's electrical system at the battery then to a fuse then to the amp and then output the signal from the deck to the amp.. finally to the subwoofer. you need to hook up 12V constant battery power , then remote from the deck ,ground wire from amp to chasis for power.. then wire to sub.

If you have the Alpine SWR-1222D, that's a dual 2 OHM Sub. So, the way you have it hooked up to the amp ,it's 1 Ohm, and unless your amp can safely operate at 1 OHM, you are better off connecting the voice coils in series so the amp will see 4 OHMS. Hello phatjay_31,

It's likely that the sub has been damaged by too much power. The Type R's in both 10" and 12" versions can only handle up to 500 watts RMS. The 15" version can handle up to 750 watts. The Rockford-Fosgate T3000bd1 amp puts out 3000 watts RMS into a 1 ohm load.

I'd check the voice coils. They are probably melted.

Cant wire to mono amp

There are two options for wiring a single 2ohm DVC subwoofer to a mono amp. The first gives a 1ohm load and should only be used if your amp is stable at 1ohm. The second option results in a 4ohm load and would be OK for most amps. Here are the diagrams:

Changed my car battery, No sound from Alpine INE-W960, but reverse camera good, shows radio stations, reads cd but no sound

Is this a custom instal? If yes, Check that the amps are powering up. You may need to check the fuse for the amps or the remote wire fuse. It could have blown hooking up the new battery. If there are no amplifiers check both fuses for the Alpine deck unit.

What is the speaker impedance requirements for an Alpine 7164 am/fm cassette player? I also have an Alpine 3508 power amplifier - same question about the speaker impedance on that one, also.

Unless other specified in paperwork, all Alpine receivers are 4ohm capable only.
Now yes there are exceptions, but not many.
Now for amp almost all alpine amps can be run in several different resistances.
Basically for sure 4ohm, now depending on model some have abilities to go as low as 1ohm stable. But for most 2 ch alpine non special amps are all 4ohm and most 2ohm capable.
Now better models can do things such as run 2,3,4 ch. And some can even get to .5 ohm loads stable.
