DVD does not recognize disc
hi..if a lense cleaner dont solve the prolbem then you can replace the laser unit itself if that type of cleaning also dont work means and you think you are capable of taking the casing off make sure you switch it off first this should send the laser to the center of the laser tray if you take the case off and it is not in the center it might just be that it has got stucked sometimes gently pushing it back to the middle will get it working again if it is already in the middle then it could be that the laser needs replacing but if not in middle push gently dont shake the device too much it should be quite hard to push any way when you push back to middle try a disk but please make sure you dont touch anything while device is it is plugged in if nothing works then it probably is the laser but before you do anything as soon as you get the case off switch it on and put a dvd in and make sure the disk is spinning.. if its not spinning then ur laser unit is damaged..
thank u

Connecting it to a tv through a stereo with a cable box
Hiya ... you have a simple lead or set up problem .. ensure that the lead is a good quality one .... and also that the correct leads are atttached where they should be on the tv & stereo... select AV....( this is also dependant on the number of peripheral attachments and their set up to the T.V... ie Digital box.. dvd player... scart or aerial connection)... after checking these... use your T.V controls.. select menu... sounds...external sounds... or digital sounds... something similar....select external devices.... ensure that you have the "phono" selected on your hi-fi.. this should sort your problem.
You should remember also that once you use your Hi-fi to listen to your t.v.... some tv sound systems will.. not allow any of the additional speakers attached to the tv to work ..... you should however be able to manipulate bass/treble settings in certain sound modes via your tv remote.
Alternatively if you have the ROCK/POP/CINEMA...etc selection modes on your hi-fi these can also be used for a satisfactory sound...
Have I understood your problem correctly? and has it helped?
Regards Faggly

Video Issue
It sounds like you have the "progressive scan" mode enabled. This changes the order that the scan lines (each horizontal line) is sent to your TV. When this setting doesn't match what your TV expects, you get this effect.
Beocenter 1
you could also check that the regioncount hasn't been exceeded it can only be changed a certain number of times

Verbatim discs with 8x or
Try Sony DVD-R disc's, they seem to work with most DVD players.
The best DVD-R disc's you can get are Taiyo Yuden.
The speed of the disc is not important as long as it is fast enough for your player, meaning that you can use an 8X or 16X disc on a 4X burner, but not a 4X disc with a 16X burner.
Many manufacters will reccomend the type of disc to use for best performance in the users manual.

Dvd will not play or
Do you have a CD/DVD Lens Cleaner Disk ?
What the Problem may be, is that there maybe dust or a bit of dirt on your lens inside the DVD player.
So with a CD/DVD lens Cleaner it will clean the lens so that you can run DVD with no Problems

DVD won!t EJect at all
The DVD might be stuck in the disc tray for whatever reason. To get it out, you could remove all the screws on the back and bottom. Slide out the cover to retrieve the DVD. Plug it in to see if it still works. If it still appears to be working, put it back together and hope that future DVDs won't get stuck.

My model: DVR 4000;
Hi there -
You have to set the Alt Video Out setting to COMPONENT while the composite cable is still attached. Leave the yellow plug for the composite connection connected to both the TV and DVD player, change the Alt Video Out setting to COMPONENT, then connect the 5 jacks for the component connection to both the DVD player and the TV.
Once you have done this, you need to switch the input on the TV to COMPONENT. You probably select AV1 on the TV for watching the DVD player using the composite connection, but you have to select a different input on the TV when using the component cables. The correct input on the TV will probably be called "component" or "component 1". I suspect this is the part that you may not have done.
You seem to have a good understanding of how to connect it all, so I've skipped a lot of detail here, but I'm willing to draw a specific connection diagram for this player and your TV if required. You will need to let me know the model number of your TV for this.
Hope this helps. If you've tried doing it as I suggested above and still can't get it to work, please let me know the model number of the TV and I will provide more comprehensive step-by-step instructions. Once you've got the component connection working for playback, I can also assist you with settting it up so you can record to VCR again.
