DV 2150 Remote Control Codes

If it's not a well known brand, you're likely not going to find a code for it. I've heard of Go Video, but I don't think it's a very popular brand. (I could be wrong on this point)

Codes don't exist for every tv/dvd/vcr/surround system.

If the remote you bought doesn't have your dvd player listed, then you're probably out of luck.

If it's a very expensive universal remote (like $50-$100) then you might find either a code or a firmware update for it on the manufacturers website.

If not, try every code the instructions list. If you're lucky, one of them will work. If not, c'est la vie.

DV2150 Close Captioning

Same problem here.
Instructions for DV2150 say you can access closed caption toggle by going to SETUP, then OTHER then CAPTION, but this (CAPTION) option is missing from the menu. I, too am struggling with the Jeopardy game buzzers, which I cannot program. Was wondering if the lack of "closed caption" is the reason

"Bad disc" message

You can buy a CD/DVD player cleaner, which is basically a set of brushes attached to a CD. This will gently brush the CD/DVD laser and hopefully that will restore your player to full working order.

DV2150

I had the same problem: I unplugged the power for 10 seconds (literally unplugged it!) and also removed and reconnected the s-video cable. Voila - color picture again!
Good Luck!

Go Video DVD player remote has gone haywire!

it sounds like your remote has got damp or over time the dust builds up behind the buttons you should be able to take the controll apert and remove the buttons check the pads are clean and not greasy then wipe over the board with some clean cotton cloth where the buttons pads press on to activate usually its just a bit of grease but check their is no button jammed it sounds like this could be the case as you get a different response to pressing the play button so try this first then if dont work still clean the buttons and pads be carefull not to dammage the pads they should come out all together and have little black pads stuck to them make sure their xlean and grease free if this still dont work then you can get but make sure its not one of the cheaper ones a all in one remote this should solve your problem hope this helps

Govideo 4200 vcr/cd

is their a disk inside if their is it sounds like its come out of place and is jamming the door flap either take it to repair shop or if you feel ok taking the casing off have a look if anything is jamming it it migh just be a spring on the flap has come off try opening the flap with your hands but be gentle doing this as not to damage it it may just be its got knocked and a disk has jumped out of place so try having a look inside to see if it is jammed but be carefull not to damage anything taking the casing off make sure it has been off for 24 hours before you take the case off as they can still have electric stored inside for this time but if you are unsure what you are doing let a pro do it they wont charge much as it is easy to solve prob hope this helps you

Remote

Here is an easy trick to see if a remote is working. Hold the remote up to a digital camera or camcorder. Then just press the buttons on the remote and look in the lcd screen of the camera. If the remote is working you will see the LED on the front of the remote flashing through the LCD screen of the camera. If you do see it blinking on the camera then you know it works. If it works then you either have the wrong remote for that model, or the reciever inside the dvd player may be faulty. You can also pick up a universal remote for under $10 at most stores that sells electronics. Peter
