My Hitachi cp x250 projector powers on and
Most likely you have a defective lamp or it is near the end of its life. It's also possible that the high voltage power supply is going out. You might check the lamp hours - you can find this in the advanced menu. Also check the air filter, if you haven't cleaned it, the airflow might be restricted, shutting down the projector.
Someone has poked out the cover on the electric
That's an infrared receiver and it allows you to use the remote. It's OK as long as only the cover was damaged and not the optics inside, or if you just don't use the remote.
You may be able to get a replacement cover from the manufacturer, but it'll be expensive! ...and probably unnecessary. Unless you know the kid that did it, in which case I would make them replace the whole unit just on principle and ship the broken one to their parents.
The red colouring on the screen seems to have been
the light polarizer if fried or the red lcd panel is shot, both due to excessive dust and heat. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. you may have to send it back to hitachi to repair. bad news: you may have to replace the entire optical engine, as hitachi doesn't sell individual parts for it.
I can't project my image from my laptop to the projector..
A usb cable will not work that way--on your projector, it's used for data...you need to obtain a monitor cable which will plug into the vga connector on the laptop and into the connector on the projector (rgb in 1) or (rgb in 2) If you use the #2 rgb input, make sure the button IS NOT pushed in! If it is, the projector will be switched to OUTPUT mode on the #2 connector. Also, on the laptop, normal operation is "laptop only"...when you push the <alt F4> buttons, it should then switch to "laptop + external display(projector)", another <alt F4> push will give "external display only" mode. Then, another push will return you back to "laptop only". NOTE: Sometimes, you have to turn on the projector first, then immediately turn on the laptop--not to get technical but different equipment can get finicky about syncing up...just something to be aware of...
Check air flow
You need to clean the filters. When the filters collect alot of dust on them, they block the airflow to the internal parts of the projector and can cause the bulb to blow due to the temperature getting to hot.

clean filter and reset the filter timer by advanced options filter timer and hold reset till menu shows then arrow up and it will zero out.

Hi Sam, the temperature light, tells you that the ventilation system is not working properly
As a first step, remove the filter (s) and clean them well or replace them with new filters.
It would also be important to do an interior cleaning, do not use torches or air sprays, since they can do more damage than solution, always try to vacuum dirt

Hola Sam, la luz de temperatura, te indica que el sistema de ventilacion no esta trabajando correctamente
Como primera medida , saca el o los filtros y limpialos bien o reemplazalos por filtros nuevos
Tambien seria importante hacer una limpieza interior, no utilices ni sopletes ni aerosoles de aire, ya que pueden hacer mas da?o que solucion, siempre trata de aspirar la suciedad
espero Puedas hacer funcionar correctamente tu Hitachi

Hi, my Hitachi CP-X445 projector will not stay running for more than 5 minutes when mounted feet up, but there is no problem running feet down, any ideas?shuts down on high temp
