Hitachi 46F510 46" Projection HDTV Questions & Answers
Screen turn to red hue and then back to normal
Not uncommon on this model as a lot issues with the red and most of them are caused by touchy master screen controls. The set has a black rectangular block with three screen and three focus controls, for whatever reasons the red screen control always seems to be the flaky one and usually a very tiny adjustment of that one does cure the problem.
What causes my picture to go pink all of the sudden ?
Examine the screen with set on and color set to zero--stand back and look= is screen pink to red color? If so it may be a common issue on this Hitachi. Usually it is an adjustment inside the set of the red screen control needing to be turned just slightly down---these are known for the red control "drifting" just slightly from time to time--answer is based on model number indicated here.
The colors are out of alignment.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Blue shading border 50in rear
Hi,
As question shows it is Hitachi 46F510 rear projection tv and blue shade border problem is related to convergence output section. Please try to adjust convergence as option would be available in tv Menu and if that does not help then it is hardware problem like convergence output chips going bad or dry/ cold solder joint developed in that circuit area etc.
This is job of tv technician to do solder work in convergence output section of tv to solve the blue border issue in picture.
Hope these info will help, let me know if there is additional question.
Thanks.
The overall picture is much darker. Night scenes
The brightness settings must have been changed somehow. Just go into your tv menu (there should be a menu button on your remote). Navigate to Picture Settings (this maybe different but there should be something similar) and move the brightness slider up but not too much or the picture will begin to look "washed out". Hope that helps.

ok, so weird
The convergence board is defective and it needs replace, to have a service man take care of your set it will run around 450. If it was me I would just replace the set with a new LCD. take care.
I have a Hitachi HDTV
Go into the customer menu for audio---look for settings like Hall etc--one of them is set wrong--experiment a little and you will find which one is wrong---background sound is controlled by this setting.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.
