It is a know issue and there are fixes. This is the reason. Go here and press CTRL+F and type in ' overload '

Do you have any 4 ohm speakers in the mix?

The 4 ohm speakers are causing the amp to go into and display OVERLOAD at higher volumes. Page 5 of your manual is poorly written, but clearly implies 8 ohms is the minimum impedance required for speakers connected to this JVC amp.

A fan is not running

It does have an aux input with two levels but this isn't suitable for a turntable.
A suitable input should have RIAA correction with a sensitivity of just a few millivolts for a magnetic cartridge.

Instruction manual can be found on the link below...

I searched jvc.com for your model CA-C77BK S/N and couldn't find it even in the archives.

It must be a discontinued unit.

Usually when this happens you have to take the unit apart to retrieve the cd.

I don't think it's worth fixing, as parts don't seem to be available or listed, not even the user's manual online at jvc.com.

However, I did find a link for the service manual for this vintage compact component system:
http://www.vintagemanuals.com/manual.php?manufacturer=JVC&model=CA-C77BK%2C+CA-C99

May I refer you to that manual to try to figure out how to fix this problem.

Unfortunately, it costs $33 for the manual. You'll have to decide if it is worth it to buy it.

Good luck to you in fixing this problem.

Unplug the unit from AC power for 30 minutes, and disconnect all of the speakers and other associated equipment. Upon plugging back in, press and hold the power button at the same time for 5-10 seconds to force a hard reset.
