Onkyo TX-SR803 Receiver - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Onkyo 705
You have probably done this, but have you changed the video settings in the setup menu to have the tv using HDMI out? I believe it is under the first option when the menu comes up.
It keeps shutting off
If you have zone 2 active with the level turned up too much it will cut out the whole unit. Try disconnecting zone 2 speakers, then turn the volume level way down on zone 2 and it should stay on if that is the problem.
Hum niose in my onkyo tx-sr804
Hi there, sounds like you have a ground loop happening there. Check out ground loops in google to get some tips.
What you should try is use one wall plug for everything (with an adapter on it) and check that none of your other cables are damaged. try find new cables and put them in place of the old seemingly fine cables.
Receiver won't put out sound to LCD Sharp aquos
I have the same problem with my Sharp Lcd and Onkyo 804. I believe one problem is that the TV can not accept dolby digital or dts digital audio signals through HDMI. It will play sound if it receives a PCM signal through HDMI. You can try switching the type of signal on the cable box settings and on the dvd player. I switched to PCM and got sound through the TV and the receiver. The problem is that PCM is usually only a 2 channel signal and Dolby 5.1 will sound better through the surround sound theater system. I have not found an absolute solution to this yet, but I am willing to not get sound through the lousy TV speakers in order to get top notch sound through the Onkyo.
HDMI switching?
I was having a simalar problem, what you have to do is go into a options menu that will come up on your tv screen and tell the reciever that you want it to put out and video through your hdmi cable.
Phantom backround sounds
Need more info. Does it happen while using other sources? (DVD, games, VCR..) if so, pause the source and see if the sound is still audible. if it's only on the TV source then MUCH more info will be needed.

Onkyo TX-SR804 7.1
Hi Trapper John...you sound pretty frustrated so I'm just going to offer a single, and easiest method to achieve your goal.
Purchase a 1/4" (6.3mm) Stereo Jack to Stereo RCA Plug Cable. If you have difficulty finding this cable as I have experienced, you may purchase it from the following website by clicking on the URL below:
http://www.zzounds.com/item--HOSYPR102
Once obtained, plug your Wireless Headphones into the 1/4" Jack, and insert the RCA Plugs into the Zone 2 Output on your Receiver and your dreams will be realized. Instructions and information on Zone 2 may be found on page 82 of your Owners Manual....good luck my friend.
Onkyo TX-SR804 power supply
If you imply an AC voltage transformer by saying "power supply", I don't believe it will be difficult to find one. If you stay in Istanbul, I recommend that you go to "Dogubank". You can choose from a wide variety of options at that place. All you have to pay attention is that the AC frequency (Hz) of the transformer you're about to purchase. It must be around 50Hz to operate your amp.

0-83 error on onkyo tx nr 555
The 0-83 error indicates a problem with the firmware update.
Try resetting the receiver's BIOS by following these steps2:
Unplug all cables
Un-Power the receiver
Power the receiver
Before the receiver gets into the "Enter for updating" message, press Tone + CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will show you either the volume numbers or get you into settings of the receiver's speaker configuration.
Press CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will clear the BIOS and show a "Clear" message on the display. Wait until you hear a couple of clicking sounds for the receiver to turn on and off the power.
