Top stich loose

Download manual here - http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

Refer to the maintenance section for cleaning the machine.

Have the needle at it's highest position when removing and replacing the bobbin case.

Refer to the manual for the tension setting, stitch length and correct needle type and size for the fabric you are sewing.

Thread the needle with the presser foot up - always.

If the stitching remains loose, the machine will need to go to the shop for service as the timing may need to be adjusted.

There is a drawing and guide for doing this at the website sewusa (repair).

However, it would be best to have this checked out by a professional as attempting yourself may lead to more problems. And that could cost more than the service fee.

LOWER THREAD IS LOOSE UNDER THE FABRIC WHEN

This could be one or two things; (1) the machine was threaded with the presser foot down, or (2) the timing needs to be adjusted (by a sewing machine tech).

Singer 5525 model just roars

Unfortunately, you will have to call the shop and tell the them the problem is not fixed.

Ask if when you bring it in, can you do a show & tell with the tech and then give a demonstration.

Bobbin not threaded correctly, no manual to show

From the manual:

  • Open the hinged cover
  • Pull the bobbin case tab and remove the bobbin case
  • Hold the bobbin case with one hand (I use left). Insert the bobbin so that the thread runs in a clockwise direction (should come up from underneath).
  • Pull the thread through the **** and under the finger.
  • Hold the bobbin case by the hinged latch.
  • Insert it into the shuttle.
Hope this helps. There are pictures in the manual that make it easier to follow.

Bobbin thread does not loop up when threading

There are so many thing you need to re-check.

First clean out the bobbin area to be sure there aren't any thread tangles still there.

Open the manual and start from the beginning with threading the machine with the presser foot lever UP - always.

Read the instructions and do not rely solely on the pictures as we all sometimes rush to do (I am just as guilty as the next person to do this).

Make sure the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin case in the correct direction.

Hold onto the end of the top thread (after needle has been threaded) and lower then raise the needle to catch and bring up the bobbin thread.

Place the fabric under the presser foot and as you hold onto the ends of the top and bobbin thread, hand walk the first stitch, then use the power pedal.

If you need a manual, you can download (free) from Singer - http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

I have been trying to sew on this machine which

Open the manual for this machine and make sure you are (1) threading with the presser foot up; (2) the bobbin is inserted corretly into the bobbin case.

If you need a manual, you should be able to find one at the Singer Company website.

Thread mess at the underside of the fabric

Hi, maybe your bobbin is turning the wrong way and you need to flip it over. Or you don't have any top tension. Be sure the thread is in between the tension disks with the foot up. Its also possible that there is a burr on the hook part that goes around and grabs the top thread. The thread will catch on the burr and cause this issue. Usually after breaking a needle. Then the burr would need to be polished off.

How do I drop the feed dog on a singer sewing

They do not drop.

The accessories with this model include a darning plate, which is a plastic shield that snaps over the feed dogs.

If you cannot find the darning plate, poke a hole for the needle in the center of an index card and tape it over the feed dogs with blue painter's tape (does not leave a residue) and set the stitch length to zero.

Be sure to use a darning foot and lower the presser foot.
