Find and fix errors in your system BIOS BIOS Patcher can find and fix errors in your system BIOS (only AWARD BIOS for now) and also it can add or open new features, i.e. some features that your BIOS has but they are closed by manufacturer of your motherboard. It scans rom file. If it finds any known errors it fixes the errors. If it finds any closed features it opens it. hope this helps

M7VKL pen boot

If you want to boot from a pen drive ?

bootable USB guide, here we assume that you are using either Vista or Windows 7 to create a bootable USB.

1. Insert your USB (4GB+ preferable) stick to the system and backup all the data from the USB as we are going to format the USB to make it as bootable.

2. Open elevated Command Prompt. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Alternatively, navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.

3. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command: DISKPART and hit enter. LIST DISK and hit enter.

Once you enter the LIST DISK command, it will show the disk number of your USB drive. In the below image my USB drive disk no is Disk 1.

4. In this step you need to enter all the below commands one by one and hit enter. As these commands are self explanatory, you can easily guess what these commands do.

SELECT DISK 1 (Replace DISK 1 with your disk number) CLEAN CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SELECT PARTITION 1 ACTIVE FORMAT FS=NTFS (Format process may take few seconds) ASSIGN EXIT

Don't close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Insert your Windows DVD in the optical drive and note down the drive letter of the optical drive and USB media. Here I use "D" as my optical (DVD) drive letter and "H" as my USB drive letter.

6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands: D:CD BOOT and hit enter. Where "D" is your DVD drive letter. CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message. BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H: (Where "H" is your USB drive letter)

7. Copy Windows DVD contents to USB. You are done with your bootable USB.

You can now use this bootable USB as bootable DVD on any computer that comes with USB boot feature (most of the current motherboards support this feature).

Note that this bootable USB guide will not work if you are trying to make a bootable USB on XP computer. http://100-downloads.com/publisher.php?pb=http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool&dl=727

Motherboard will not start, believe it is bad capacitors, how di I DIAGNOSE THEM?

Bro, you can't fix bad capacitors on your mb. If it's under warranty then give your computer/mb manufacturer a call. Otherwise you gotta get a new one. FYI if you get a different model your os may have issues with it. If you have windows 7 you should be ok.

Biostar motherboard resumes power after shutdown

There is an option called Wake On Lan. Check your BIOS and disable that option. The name may differ, instead of WAN it may say PCI. Take a look. The second part is the NIC. Look for wake up options. I'm logged in Windows right now and it has that options setting. So does iOS. I imagine so does Ubuntu. I'll check next time I reboot into Ubuntu.GL.

Computer shuts off when i connect the atx 4prong power/grnd lead

laptop or desktop computer ?since you have been inside your computer moving leads around you might have unseated or slightly moved something or it might be something is old and past its use by date

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU. Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink. hope this helps

Ram issues with biostar n68sb-m2s motherboard

To determine if a 1Gb RAM module is faulty insert one RAM module in the motherboard at a time. If the both 1Gb RAM modules work then the RAM modules from different manufacturers are incompatible with each other. Try using RAM modules of the same make and speed.

The computer boots then it goes off sudenly

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord? When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problemis with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and takenote of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.
