LG Electronic Window Air Conditioner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Window a/c thermistor or control/circuite board replacement?
Still could be the fan capacitor. You cannot visually inspect a capacitor. It needs to be tested with a dvm. Beware capacitors store quite a bit of juice and although they probably won't cause permanent damage....the do hurt like hell when the discharge into you. You could try with the unit running spinning the fan manually BE CAREFUL. If it starts then the cap is probably bad. If not motor could be bad even if it spins ok.
Swing motor not working
These are quite easily damaged and sometimes just wear out. The cable from the motor can also be easily damaged. They are cheap and easy to replace. Just source a new one for that model online. When you receive it, turn off power to the system, take the front cover off, unscrew inside tray from cover box, slide tray out, remove the power box, get access to the motor and replace. Be sure to check which wires go where before removing and take photos or make accurate diagrams with color codes. Check that the control board functions normally before purchase though. A faulty board could cause this fault.
After turning off the unit the display is off but the unit is still running.
If it has humidity control and the cool is still on but set temp is higher than the room temp, the humidity control will override set temp. If it has no %rh control then it probably has a circuit board fault; micro relay is stuck closed and board needs to be replaced. Its probably the circuit board. On it, there is a little black box(s). About 1" X 1/2" in size. With long run times the small contacts inside will fuse/melt together.
PROBLEM ON START WINDOW AC
Lg have 5uf capacitor installed in outdoor section along with comoressor unit. It bascially helps to rotate the condenser fan.
Recharge freon banded
Yes. If it has a port installed from factory, it can be recharged. If it used R12, it can be purchased from Ebay. It the unit does not have a recharging port, you can also purchase that from Ebay. You need to know the size of tubing the port is going on. A pressure guage would also help troubleshooting.
LG Air Conditioner/Heat Unit spits cold air
I believe the "FP" probably stands for Freeze Protection and it's there to prevent your outside coil from freezing up and causing your head pressure to drop. To do this, it briefly has to reverse the cycle from heating to cooling. This is normal in a heat pump.
Breaker Trips Immediately
Have a short in unit. Need to check continuity of each component to ground to determine where short is. Also make sure breaker is good.
Unit cutting off and on
If you have set the temp near to the room temp it will switch off and on. Set it to to 20 deg and watch. Even if it is not working properly then problem is with thermostat.S.S.MALICK
