My LG window conditioner and heater is freezing

Short of gas. Check the running amps. If it's minimum 2 amps less than actual (in the name plate) amps, gas leak is confirmed. Call serviceman to rectify it.

Buttons stopped working

Your electronic control has problem the relay and magnetic contactor won't work. Better check your control panel first switches has no contact or your power supply for your electronic control has no power or check the fuse. Try to press the magnetic contactor in few seconds and see if the compressor and fan works. If doesn't work your have power on your electric wiring and and power.

How to defrost the air condioner. It is froze up.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. First thing to do is turn the unit off and check the filter then if the filter is okay check to see if the blower comes on when you put the fan switch on the thermostat from auto to on. If the blower isn't coming on then there could be a problem with the blower motor. If the motor is running then turn the system to cool and turn the setting down to where the air should be on. Then check the outside unit and be sure the outside unit is running if the outside unit is not running go to the house panel box and check the breaker to see if any of them are tripped or off. If there off turn them on and check the outside unit again. If all is running and you get no air flow through the vents then the coil could be frozen. If the unit is frozen turn the thermostat to off and leave the indoor blower on by leaving the fan switch in the on position for a couple hours till it thaws. If the unit froze up then there could be a problem with the a/c system most likely low on refrigerant as a result of a leak. I would have it leak tested and repaired if this is the case.

I have cleaned the drain

If your a/c have a housing, set the upper front side 1/2" away from the wall and the lower front side 1 1/2" away from the wall. Some units with plastic base pan should be inclined more defending on the height of the drain line fitted in each model.

My unit is not cooling ! It was working fine

Hi,

I would advice you to clean the condenser coil by condenser coil cleaner and its aluminum cooling fins for efficient heat dissipation. Compressor has a thermal overload protector which will turned off the compressor once gone to excessive heat. This is very common problem on summer which will increase the heat build-up of the condenser and compressor that activate the thermal fuse, when the compressor is not running consistently the evaporator coil will not cool enough even you set the temp to high cool. Proper cleaning of condenser coil and its cooling fins can resolve the issue.

If the symptoms still persist, this is an indication that the system needs of refrigerant charging. This is not DIY and you need an assistant of a technician to do the job.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

There is a wall of

If you haven't already, tunr the unit OFF & unplug it. Allow to totally thaw. Then remove the air intake filter and clean it thoroughly. It is probably clogged, which is what caused the unit to freeze up. But, do not attempt this, until the unit has totally thawed.

Hope helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

All fan speeds work but the unit does not cool.

Hi there,
when you turn the a/c to cooling mode do you hear a sudden kick or feel it vibrate?
How old is the unit exactly?
where there any recent power outage or did the a/c had a power trip recently?
Thanks!

My LG air conditioner is

Go around the back side and unplug the drain hole! These are designed to drain out the back through a hole in the drain pan. Maybe your unit is tipping forward and not draining like it should. You can use a coat hanger or wire or even a shop vac to remove debris from the drain.

It seems it's collecting water in the tray and

AC units do take the humidity out of the air and water collects in the bottom. The unit should be tilted slightly downward on the outside so that the water runs outrside. Make sure the drain holes are clear. The pinging noise is common, the fan is hitting drops of water, nothing to be concerned about

I just bought this thing and it worked at the guys

Kevin, first check the wall outlet it's plugged into, to make sure it has power. It may have a loose wire connection or the circuit breaker for that line has been tripped. If you brought the unit home, sitting on it's rear or side, rather than on it's bottom, you will need to wait 6 to 8 hours before using it. As the refrigerant fluids and oil in the compressor need to run back in place. While you're waiting, check the outlet and the circuit breaker in your home's breaker panel.

Hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.
