LG 50PX4DR 50 in. Plasma TV - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I have 50" lg Plasma tv. When I start it first
The UF capacitors on your PSB-power supply board are blown. Your tv is putting itself in fault protection mode to keep it from damaging more components internally. Soon enough the TV won't come on at and you'll be left with a blinking fault LED.

Yes,what wrong with ur 60" LG Plasma tv,but not if ur screen panel is broken or damage, because replacing the screen panel it cost the same as a new tv,might even more after the labors. The screen panel's are 90% of the tv that why.It also limited producced by the tv industries.
My on screen TV guide no longer works, and my TV
Do you have cable TV? Many Cable TV companies have recently (over the last year or two) quit sending TV Guide data. You can get it through an external antenna connected to the TV's antenna input if you are within range of an ABC or NBC and a PBS affiliate for the clock auto set.
But if you still have TV Guide service, some of these have failed circuit boards for the TV Guide, ( usually shows a complete black screen when you turn it on or hit guide button.
LG Plasma TV 50PC3D
The TV should be under warranty. Send back. Sounds like the panel is faulty (half the value of the set).
LG 50inch Plasma received loud sound then went black
I suggest you guys take your TV's into a repair shop like Sears or Best Buy... The main reason most plasmas go dark is because of decay, but I don't think this is the case. Because what you describe is similar to what happens in LCD's when their back light goes out. Although you can open up and repair the back light your self in a LCD, I would not advise you to do so for a Plasma, because of the hazardous chemicals used in the plasma display plus the fact that plasmas don't use back lighting. And 2 years is way to soon for decay to be a factor. So more than likely a circuit shorted out and the TV has to be opened up to be repaired.
I have a LG 50"

Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Red line across top then popping sound, then faded
The problem you have discribed sounds like the inverter failing, it could also be the power board has blown some capacitors that will have to be changed, to check for this you will have to take the back of the tv ensure you have unplugged from the mains first.
It is held on by a couple of screws, so you will have to route around to find them all, then gently prise the back cover off.
Once the back cover is removed have a look for the power board and check the capacitors, they are barrel shaped componant with silver tops, check for a brown liquid resedue on the board or on the capacitors, if there is any they will need to changed, also check the tops of the caps they all should be flat, if you see any with a slightly domed top or pretruding they will also need to be changed.
To change the capasitors you will need some soldering experience, firstly to desolder them from the board and to solder the new ones onto the board.
When buying the capacitors check the value on the side which should read somthing like this 16v 4.7uf, "V" stands for voltage and "uf" stands for micro farrad ensure when you buy new you get the uf rating exactly the same, but the voltage can be different as long as it is equal to or above the stated voltage on the cap, if you dont the cap will blow again.
hope this is helpful and fixes your problem.
Hi, I have a 50
Tv has a short on the vertical scan board, the board needs to be replaced. The board cost around $89 bucks its a pretty easy fix one you could do yourself....
Tv made a loud pop sound then went black...sound
This is a common failure in many PLASMAs. One of the boards in the TV blew. Most likely It is going to be the Y-sus but could have also taken out the Z-sus(sometimes called the X-sus) and the Y-drives. These boards put and maitian the picture on the screen. The best way to tell is to check the voltages on the boards to see how extensive the damage was but I would defintly start with the Y-sus.
Services mode
hold menu on lcd and menu on remote together for about 3 seconds
LG 50px4dr plasma tv turns off immediately after
The problem could come from the power supply at the first suspected one. If you have a knowledge of trouble shooting, open the cover then examine if any caps there look poping up. Use your finger touch on the top of caps you will feel it. If not, check all the fuses there then disconnect all the cables from power sup to other boards, except the main board. Check Va and Vs according to the label attached on the back of panel. If the power sup shut down, replace it with a new one. Hope it helps.
Sounded like a pop of a electronic component and the picture died
Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The pop noise may have been a capacitor or a inverter transformer. I can only guess at this point.
The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
