First make sure you have the latest software driver for your operating system load. On the RUD3 there is a menu to select a Superset number. Using your stylus or cursor select S then 0 then 1, S01 on the superset menu. This will set the communcations to the correct type. If you are using th USB it will auto-detect the driver.

GTCO Roll-Up II digitizer suddenly

Hello.

There may be a problem with the GTCO Roll-Up II driver (software to run the tablet).

Here is a link to find the driver, in case you don't have a copy.

http://www.getdigitizers.com/Roll-Up-Digitizer_c_109.html

Select Drivers next to Roll-Up II and Save then Run the TW-10.9.24 file.

If not the driver, then check the ribbon cable connections on both ends. Disconnect and then reconnect the ribbon cable to be sure it is seated well. Then press the reset button on the controller.

If still a problem, check this printable Help file, if you don't have a copy of the User Guide:

http://www.gtcocalcomp.com/files/rudii.pdf

Hope this helps.

I have a Roll Up II digitiser with Quik Ruler when

You may have an open line in the grid of your Roll-Up and the Quikruler can't find a good point.

Turn on your RUD II and Quikruler and let it go through the sequence and place the cursor on the RUD.

There should be numbers displayed on the QR, if you take the cursor and go from the left part of the RUD to the right and see any of the numbers disappear, than you have on open in the RUD.

Call GTCO Tech Support and ask for an RMA if you want it repaired.

GTCO Roll-Up Digitizer... lines appear wavy and jagged

The GTCO ROll-Up is not a high accuracy tablet,it is made for general use by Estimators.

Normal accuracy is somewhere between 15 and 22 mil.

Are there any breaks in the line, this would indicate an open on the grid.

Are you using a Tabletworks driver? Check the options and make sure the correct size tablet is in the driver.

The GTCO digitizer roll up board was folded and now has a crease.

No, the lines in the Roll-Up are probably broken.

If you send it to GTC for repair, they should give you a discount on a new one.

Wont recognize gtco digitizer on start up

First reset digitizer and make sure you hear four beeps and only four beeps.
Check the cables from the Quikruler to the interface module, make sure they are in good condition, no cuts, breaks missing pins on connector.
Check cables from interface module to digitizer. A good way to check for an intermittent problem is to bend the cable at different points and check the display on the Quikruler to see if has reset.

Select S01 on the superset code with your stylus or cursor. You get get four sucess tones (beeps).

If none of this works check the firmware version on the digitizer, some J2.0 firmware may become corrupted. When the firmware becomes corrupted, you will hear three(3) medium tones on power-up.
If this is happening it will have to be serviced by GTCO.

I have the stand-alone system with the LCD screen,

Power supplies are supposed to be the same Watts as the unit. To figure the Watts, multiply the AMPs by the Volts. Both of these numbers should be on the power label of the unit.

For example a 19V 2.1A unit will take a 40 WATT power supply.

Digitizer isn't working properly

Select S01 on your superset menu first.
Check the mapping on the tablet driver control panel and turn it off. Test digitizer by moving your pen or cursor on the surface of the Digitizer and see if it will move the entire distance on your monitor, from the side to side and up and down. If this doesn't work, reset digitizer and try again.
This should be done with your application software closed. .

Make sure you get four beeps and only for beeps on power-up of digitizer. If your hear anything else the digitizer may have a hardware problem.

There is a simple way to test the digitizer through the computer by using the Hyperterminal program in the Accessories section.

Go to Accessories and then to Hyperterminal and open the program, set up a connection using 9600,n,8,1 communication parameters. On the digitizer select S12 on the superset menu and this will place the digitizer in the Point Mode, so every time you press the tip switch on your stylus when in the active area, you will get a coordinate. If you do get communication, then select S44 and this will place the digitizer in continuous mode and data will stream on the moniter.

You can then check the digitizer from for opens.
