My sound periodically goes out. drivers are up to date

If your sound card is a separate component meaning not a (on board sound built into the motherboard) then you may try removing the sound card and cleaning the socket out with a air can and then clean the contacts with cleaning alcohol then plug it back into the socket and see if this resolves your intermittent sound problem. If it continues then I suggest looking to see if the cooling fan on the card has stopped running especially if yo have lost sound again. If the fan has quit working then it is time for a new sound card. If you have on board sound then you probably will need a new motherboard as there is no way for you to fix the problem. I hope this helps, bob

Sound Starts on Then Goes Off Randomly

I actually fixed the problem. It was a driver issue. Try this with your sound card program. I opened up the program in charge for sound. In my case it was soundmax. And pressed the load defaults button and clicked apply and everything started working again. The same thing happened again after a while so I pressed defaults again and it worked. But It happened again so I uninstalled the drivers and updated them. Everything was fine after that. Now I have a problem with my registry.lol

Hope it helps.

Audio in my laptop is

Hello, If this has not been happening before, maybe you just noticed it, then you can only think of this as a result of infection on your system, it can be a virus, trojan horse, malware etc. What you can do is to scan your system thoroughly with a good anti-virus to remove any infections, note that the anti-virus must be updated before it is used

Hello, Trying to update this motherboard, now

Hi,
Always remember that when you add new hardware like a processor or faster memory you have to clear the CMOS to reset the BIOS to defaults so it will recognize the new hardware. Sometimes you have to do this with hard drives particularly SATA drives.

On the motherboard, near the motherboard battery look for a small coloured plastic jumper. If your motherboard has one it will be marked as CLR_CMOS. Just move the jumper to the other position and press the on/off button. That will clear the CMOS.

If you don't have a CMOS jumper then remove the power cord from the back of the computer and take out the BIOS battery for half an hour or so. Replace the battery and plug in power. Turn the computer on and hopefully the the computer will boot and you will see a splash/post screen. If you do remember to set the correct date and time in the BIOS utility.

If your still not getting a post screen go back and check the processor is compatible with the motherboard. Check that the processor is locked in the socket properly and also check to make sure your system memory is seated properly.

Post back if need anymore advice.

Reagrds.

Sound on my pc goes in and out randomly..

Are you sure it's the pc? I assume you at least have some powered speakers if you play music through the pc consistantly. Could be shorting out. Could be many things really. I'd try different speakers 1st and if the same happens then it's pc. From there I'd focus on the power supply. Could be shorting or on last leg. If this only happens after a long time of playing then could be the pc is getting overheated. Hard to say without knowing the quality and condition of pc and parts. Could be the electrical outlet it's plugged into. Move pc to another location and if knowledgeable enough make sure it's plugged into a totally different circuit. As crazy as it sounds, I've tested pc's running off a vehicle inverter from batteries which can actually run better more consistant power than the power company. Beyond heat and electrical, and if not the problem, then I would assume you are trying to do too many things on the pc and bogging it down and using a single core with low amount of ram.

I have a p4mbms motherboard. ...won't boot

Does the card show other codes before the FF comes up, they go by pretty fast. If you have steady ff from the moment of turning the power on and no chance, check the leds on the debug card,

Reseat the memory.

if the machine still doesn't boot.

take out all memory modules out from the machine, now with no memory plug in the power and try starting up, wait 1 minute and turn the power off, now place one of the memory modules back and try starting up again, remember to unplug the power when your connecting or disconnecting parts from the board.

Any change on debug codes how about beeping from machine?

My pc won't boot, either

Usually when this occurs, there's some sort of conflict in your Bios settings .its the problem of main board.the bios settings are got corrupted or missing or deleted or getting blocked due to viruses in the system.the main mother board has to be checked by a technician.as he will connect the board to the oscillo and check out the fault in the mother board and through the card reader check the faulty area and reset the bios settings.it requires a perfect professional to do this.it will take good amount of time .and its 50 --- 50 chance.many times the bios setting do not get resetted so whole mother board needs replacemnt. the cost of new board can be near to $70
Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks

P4MBMS otherboard's drivers

Drivers for XP and Win2K for that board located here . If you end up needing Vista drivers for the Via drivers, then you will have to visit the Via website located here
You will find that most recent drivers on the latter site of course as rarely do motherboard manufacturers keep their sites updated with fresh drivers beyond a year, and a lot less then that most of the time.

System Freeze

sc122870, try this first disconnect the hard drive cable and then try getting into bios, also try disconnecting both cables to the cdrw and to the hard drive and try to get into the bios. Sometimes if the pin assignments on the 2 drives are wrong, bios will freeze. If it does the same problem with the 2 drives unhooked then it might be your mobo.
