Marantz PMD670 Desktop Digital Voice Recorder Questions & Answers
Converting a .voc file to a wav or mp3
You have the Creative labs own compression file there. There are several Programs that can convert this for you and many of them are free. If this is something you will be doing a lot of you might pay for a better designed program. If it is a one time thing go to this link http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/pc/pcConvert.shtml and download a free program to do the converting for you.
Although a lot of people say they can't find a program on there to fix their solution so, instead go to this site.
http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=23
Down load the program and go from there.
If you are on a mac you can run windows from the program Parallels and then work it in the windows environment.
File conversion on Mac
Your card is probably PC formatted, which means your mac can read it but not write to it. Copy the files to your hard drive and convert from there!
How can I digitize cassette tapes using the Marantz PMD670?
Take a set of RCA Jack cords (4 jacks) and on the tape recorders "out" jacks attach one pair and on the PMD 670's "In" Jacks attach the other pair. Set the tape a few seconds before where you want to record , set your levels to where you want them, start the recorder then start recording with the PMD.
You may need to test record a few seconds to make sure the recording is at the level you want it to be. Plug in a set of headphones to the PMD and listen in from time to time to make sure it's recording OK.
There you go.

How to format a new CF Card without getting a
I have this same problem. I have 3 cards. 1 of them my Marantz PMD671 just doesn't like, and produces the error message "you need format on PC". I can format it on PC, and use it normally, but the PMD671 will not have it. The card is a cheapo Dane-elec.
I give up at this point.
Stop button causes PMD671 to freeze-shows mono instead of stereo
Hi,
Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.
This is a common issue with all Marantz especially over a long period of time like 3 years. I recommend you to take it to Marantz Service .Three years is a long time for electronics. Its ICs are getting weak or gotten weak, hence the problem.
Thank you for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

FORMAT flashing in the display.
While FORMAT is flashing (5 seconds) press and release the ENTER button Play/pause.

That is how you would format it with the device, or format it with your computer with the use of a card reader, connect it to your machine open my computer or computer from either your desktop or from start menu.
Then right click on the removeable storage device and select format, set it to FAT32.
If the problem remains send me the exact brands and models of your new cards.

Ekse
