Can't close door of CD on Sony CMT-CP1
Mine had the same fault. The CD is being rejected as it could not load up - this is probably because of the CD loading mechanism.
You'll need to unplug and remove the case - 4 screws on the sides and 4 or 5 on the back. Once this is done plug back in (be careful not to touch any live parts inside), load a CD and watch. What you'll probably see is that when the drawer closes the mechanism under the drawer doesn't lift sufficiently. Give it small push when it tries and I bet it then will and the CD will play.
What you need to do to fix this is remove the front panel/PCB and also remove the plastic cover that is screwed above the CD drawer so that you can see more of the topside of the mechanism.
Remove the front panel/PCB by releasing the 2 screws on the bottom and then easing forward. Gentle - as there are pins connecting the front PCB to the side PCB. You should then be able to see a worm drive type arrangement that lifts the lower assembly. This will need regreasing (I used vaseline) with a small stick (I used a Q-tip with the bud cut off). You will probably see where the old grease has been pushed out. Once you've done this, reassemble and operate a good few times to work the grease in.
Done! Mine works fine now after sitting there performing the annoying trick you described for many months!

Speakers have crackling sound
usually, crackling is due to 3 things:
1) the soundcard (or sound device you have them plugged into)
The best way to test this is to plug in another set of speakers or a headset directly to the sound
device, and listen. if you don;t hear the crackling, than consider that idea scrapped.
2.) speaker wiring/cables. Check the wiring for cracks/frayed spots. Do you get any crackling during/after you move the wires? if there is ANY change, for the better or the worse, than you have your culprit.
3.) the speakers themselves. when the first two options above are exhausted, there's only the insides of the speakers themselves to blame. you might not have seen any cone deterioration- but other things could happen, such as deteriorating wiring, etc.
for new speakers, they are relatively cheap- Here in Canada at least, I can get a new 2.1 set for anywhere from $25-60. Although, I'd strongly recommend any of the Logitech brand speakers- most models have subwoofers with unbelievable bass (for the price) through them. I myself have the more expensive Z-5500 series from them (5.1), and I've been more than impressed.

USER mANUAL
indeed chaffburner you are not the only one with this problem. over 93% of my searches result in the "monster cable" version of this product. even the RCA site did not have this manual (and the product is just over 5 years old). if anyone out there knows of the whereabouts of the elusive RCA HTS 2600 Home Theater System manual ---in any form--- please drop a line. i'll be happy to pass it along to chaffburner and the other sites that deal with user manual searches. thank you for your energy.

My Thomas Pacconi Classics record player plays too slow and I don't know why. How do I fix it?
Record players are broadly divided into three groups with the vast majority being either belt drive or the classic drive of a rubber-tyred idler wheel running on the inside of the outer circumference of the platter.
A few are direct drive...
The belt of the belt drive type is the most troublesome due to age affecting the elastic quality of the belt material.
The classic drive is troublesome over the longer period as age hardens the rubber tyre and removes it's natural friction.
The few high quality direct drive types have a small degree of speed adjustment and the correct speed is checked by a stroboscope. In the case of problems with this type the help of a specialist will be needed.
Other drive types exist but are very few and far behind.

My Pure Sonus 1Xt will not work
I thought my Pure Sonus 1XT was knackered as it would only show a blank blue screen and not respond to the buttons.
But by trial and error I found that if I disconnected it from the mains power supply for TWO WEEKS (one week was not enough) it would restart correctly, and would stay ok so long as I did not disconnect from the supply, and so I used only the standby button to switch off. If I did disconnect, it meant another two week wait.
No idea why this works. Mine did have a faulty power supply at one time (genuine Pure) which left 15v on the supply, rather than the 9v that it should be.
Worth a try before you take it for recycling.
Beresford.
