Check your pics on the computer. Are they still dark? If they're OK then problems in camera's display.

You are looking at the single-image playback? Not thumbnails and not zoomed in? Does the display cycle through the other modes when you press cursor-up/down?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't do it, try a different card.

You don't...only point-and -shoot cameras have internal memory.

By not clear do you mean out of focus or streaked due to movement? Try using a higher ISO setting in order to allow for a faster shutter speed and/or use a tripod.

Have you tried to see if you camera is running the latest firmware? If its not update it.

You could probably use either a 1.4 x or a 2 x, depending on how much you wanted to increase the focal length of your lens. A 1.4 x would give you a range of 98-420, a 2 x would give you a range of 140-600. Having said that, teleconverters are not usually recommended for use with zoom lenses, and you would lose one stop with the 1.4 x, two stops with the 2 x, thus necessitating longer exposures. Also, with the increase in focal length comes an increased probability of camera shake being more apparent, due to the increased magnification. In your position, I would attempt to get closer to the subject, using a teleconverter as a last resort if this is not possible.

hi, did you charge your battery full ? if the battery is not charged enough, it will not drive the shutter opener motor perfectly, and if any type of dirt or friction on the shutter drive gears this will happen, please check the shutter movement by removing the lens.

I use GIMP 2, a free open source editor that is very sophisticated. I think I had to install an add-on so that it would read NEF files. Gimp converts all files that are edited in it to its own "xtg" file extensions. After I finish editing, I save the picture in the "xtg" file extension then I import it in "jpg" format to the same folder where the original NEF along with the XTG formats are stored. During the editing process, I usually scale the image if I plan to send it somewhere on the web. I think a lot of other editors have a similar function, especially if the proper codecs are installed. In addition, in the past I have used conversion programs to do the same thing but it's been a long time. Do a web search for NEF converters and you may come up with a free program or two that will allow you to make the conversion without editing the picture.

Not sure, but if you shoot in manual mode and use manual focus the camera should still take photos. Kind of defeats the purpose of spending money on auto focus ones though. Try to turn the top dial on the camer to M (manual) see what happens?

To copy your pictures, jpg or NEF (RAW) to your computer, you first must install the ViewNX2 software that came with the camera (on a CD) or get the software for free from the Nikon website. Fitst install the software, then connect the camera with an USB cable then switch the camera on. Current versions of Nikon software Nikon Knowledgebase
