Probably not a fixable one, but here goes. I

Hopefully you know by now that the message wanted you to push on the card to eject it. The pictures you want to retrieve...are they on the card or the internal memory? You can easily download from the card using a simple card reader. If you've ruined the mother board circuit on the camera, then you probably can't retrieve the pics from the internal memory. In retrospect, you should never use the internal memory on a camera. It's too small to be of any use and it usually causes no end of troubles.

Broken battery compartment door switch

The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.

After take a picture I

Have you downloaded the pictures? Are the lines still there? If so this means the CCD chip inside is the problem. If the pictures look fine on your computer then its an LCD problem. If you have owned the camera more then a year then it is out of warranty but you can still send it in to be repaired. Follow this link to find the nearest service center to you. If you still have any other questions or need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,

Blury Display on FE140

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera. You might try using different (and better) software instead. Preclick offers a free organizer (www.preclick.com) that will download photos from most cameras. It's really fast and simple.

Olympus FE-140 ok except that flash does not work

Make sure you try and reset the camera to the factory default settings. There may be a setting that you are using that has disabled the flash functionality. To reset the camera - have the camera in shooting mode - press the menu button - left arrow to reset and press ok - you will see reset yes or no - highlight yes and press ok - camera will be back in factory settings - see if flash is able to work now.

Camera faults

Since your camera is about 7 months old I would suggest you take to an Olympus authorized repair shop for repair under warranty. That is, if it hasn't been dropped or exposed to water or any other liquid.

Digital camera problem

I have an FE-140 open right now and i can assume it to be one of 2 things. If it was dropped it is possible that the LCD has cracked therefore you will only see above or below the crack. It s a separate part and can be replaced. The 2nd is that possibly the mylar strip that connects the LCD to the circuit board has come loose with the impact. This is quite simple to reinsert yourself, however just be careful when opening the camera. remove the 4 side screws and the 2 on the bottom(on rear casing) then gently use something thin like a nail file or sharp fingernail to breach the 2 halves and they should come apart. Never force!! Once open there are 3 more screws around the function selector that will need removing, and 2 under the corners of the LCD.The LCD will lift out to access these screws. This will give you access to the mylar strip. Good Luck,
