Is there a repair service in the ventura ca area
Look up Adrian Pro Audio as he is the best bet for a Teac repair. The other places are not all the good. I do get a lot of units sent to me in Chicago however from all over the USA. Depends on the model you have.

Just join the web site Hi Fi Engine and down load the service manual for free. The joining does not cost anything.

Teac X3 does not fast forward
There are larger Alp switches on the transport switch assembly that are known for burning out and becoming open. Your switches are just about there. This does not doom the machine though as I have designed and tested a modification that put relays in the unit that should have been designed into it from the start. I know this mod works as I have tested it, in addition I am a past Teac Technician and an Electrical Engineer. In my years at Teac in Arlington Heights I changed about 120 of those switch assemblies but you can not get them anymore. It is better to install socket relays and just rely on those. If they ever go bad pull out and plug in a new relay at about $3.00 a part. These are the same relays that have been used in the A2300S model that have lasted 35 years without failures. I cab send you the schematic and part list if you contact me at Skywave Tape Deck Repair. I am still repairing decks 7 days a week.
I'm missing one of the rubber tape reel holders from my Teac deck. where can I get one?
All you need do is go to a surplus place or other supply or hardware store to get number 4 or 5 one hole stoppers used in the chemical industry. They will sell you a bag of them on E bay for less than the cost of those two items. I sometimes have to drill slightly larger holes but other than that this is what I supply to my customers where I fix their older equipment. American science and surplus used to sell them for around 50 cents each.
Teac 6010 reel to reel makes static when not playing.
These units are old enough to need new electrolytic capacitors installed in them. I have seen wind like sounds and frying eggs type sound that are all resolved by a new set of caps. These things are from the Vietnam war era and when I was at Teac in the 80's they were considered old then.
FF problem on Teac Reel to Reel
You need new brake pads installed as the ones in there now are dried up and may have fallen off. This is very common with older decks or 30-40 years old.I am still working on these decks at Skywave Tape Deck Repair in the Chicago area.
