Steve- Sounds like a fun plasma. So you have Vs and Va, Y and Z replaced.. its going to come down to the logic PCB or a bad plasma panel. If you have a scope you can scope the signals over on the Y board, but that is very difficult and you need a really fast scope. It works best with a 200mhz but a 100mhz will work if you can find a point to use as a trigger. Anyways, we can get into that if you have to.
Easier stuff.. When you first kick the tv on, in a dark room, look for a slight flash across the screen. It won't light up and glow like it should, but it will give a quick flash. If you see that, usually there is something up with your Y or Z board, maybe you got a bad one. I would be that you probably have a bad logic PCB and go that route. It is the small board that drives the Y and Z through the ribbon cables, the video (LVDS) cable will feed into the logic board from your main board. You can scope the LVDS signals and see if there is "low voltage" data running on the lines, if so, you main board is likely ok. If you do see a faint glow from the screen all the time, just no picture at all, it probably is a bad main board.
Plasma's are kind of tricky TVs and there are a lot of clues we can go on. Let me know if this gives you any help, and if you do have an oscilloscope and I can direct you further. Good luck, keep in touch.
Encompassparts.com you may also try salvage sites such as shopjimmy.com or even ebay. Be sure to get the numbers off the board........it is made by LG and boards fromm same vintage LG sets will interchange
This is common on these and most I have seen can be solved by replacing the y sus board. You are seeing miss firing pixels, you will notice that the warmer the set is the better it is. Small capacitors on the y sus can be located and replaced some times too. Nothing wrong with your inputs though. If you are technical and have good soldering skills ,I can guide you further.....the set is made by LG ,so you can cvall a shop with that experience as well and expect maybe a couple hundred to fix
Hi, Did you make sure you have the audio out from whatever you are trying to listen to going to the correct audio input on the back of the tv? Then you went into the tv's menu and turned the speakers on correct? Does the menu show them as on? If you need further assistance please let me know and I will be glad to assist you. Thank you, Lee
Hi Thanks
for using FixYa. To start with you’ll have to open the back of the unit, then
blow the dust off and start checking for bad components. As the power supply
board develops high voltage to supply to all components so you should check
that board for any bulged capacitors and if you have electrical expertise you
can also check that board/components in a better way. These issues usually
happens due to overheating in plasma TVs. After sometime as these sets are very
hard working device and produces a lot of heat. Please do accept the
solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
This brand is ok,it have it problems just like any other
Plasma tv brand. The only thing is Zenith tv is not a popular tv brand of tv anymore.Have very limited refurbishable boards parts to buy for the tv replacement.
Your PS3 is sending a 1080P signal to a TV that can only handle 720P or 1080i. Connect the PS3 using the A/V cables, fix the resolution and then go back to HDMI.
Dear friend .believe or not your problem can only be on one of your SUS boards but you have to change both boards. it is cheaper to buy one but after three weeks your set will be dead again. ITS BETTER TO BUY BOTH BOARDS if i know where from then maybe i can tell you where to find the parts. CHANGING CAPS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO START but what if some transistors is also blown wich means you have to start changing more components and by the time you finish changing all the components you"ll see that you will spend more money of what the 2 boards will cost you[SO MY FRIEND BE WISE AND BUY THE BOARDS ITS CHEAPER THAT WAY [REPAIR MAN KW ]
Hey mate, very common in all makes of plasma TV's. See this how to video on to fix it, the video is for a hyundia but it is the same for your TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NPobj0_GSo
It's pretty easy, just get a soldering iron and take your time, best of luck. Bro
There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:
1) Replace the batteries on your remote control. 2) Try resetting the logic functions on yourtv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in. 3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop. 4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-videosystem? Changed to a new remote?
This is a Common problem with Multiple Solutions.More often, it is Faulty HDMI input on the TV.Then the only thing I can suggest trying is to temporarily connect a low def (the yellow plug will work) connection from the player to the TV, and go into the player's setup menu, and see if there is an HDMI option.
If so, there should be a setting to play all Blu-ray discs at 1080i. You might try that.
But what will probably also work is to connect the player to the TV via the 5 wire component video output from the player. The player will deliver full HD from Blu-ray discs, and you won't have to fight the possibly up-hill battle to get the HDMI handshake between the player and the TV to happen. It's also possible that the player has a defective HDMI output, or possibly all outputs (except the audio) are affected. Obviously, if that's the case, the player has to be fixed or replaced.
Hi Thanks
for using FixYa. A plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is
working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it
produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by
overheating problems. X, Y sustain, buffer boardscontrols
picture, fires the gas, and many others functions. When either of these boards goes
bad common problems include negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal
stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off, and many more. You’ll need to
open the back off the TV and check for any swollen/bulged/leaky capacitors on these
boards and replace whichever has gone bad. All this is only recommended if you
have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these
units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if
the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
