I have a Brinkmann vertical
I have a vertical smoker now and I love it. It is kind of tricky to get it just right and cook things perfectly. The results though are amazing once you get it.

Problem getting temp up and keeping it there
You need to modify your cook pan by drilling holes to get air to the charcoal and maybe put in a grate to keep the charcoal up. I am using a deeper pan for teh cahrcoal and I have modified it to get the temp up. Good Luck

I just bought the double
I would do that. It will undoubtedly smoke some the first time you use it, as the paint and oils on the pieces burn off. You want your food to taste like wood smoke, not paint smoke. I would leave the racks out and just wash them before you use them.
Happy smokin'

The smoker won't heat over
Drill about 10 holes in your charcoal pan!
Let your coals get good and hot before you start smoking!

How do i install the rotisserie on my grill..it is
Buy the Brinkmann Universal Rotisserie Kit model #812-7102-S for $49.95. It uses 2 screws to attach a bracket to the existing tapped holes in the grill. It was that easy! I purchased my grill and the Rotisserie at Home Depot.

Natural gas conversion
Mr Taylor with all due respect natural gas is low pressure and WILL NOT explode like on TV or in the movies....as to drilling out the orifices, as long as you don't over do it, you will be fine. Most companies have a orifice chart on the website to assist you with selecting the proper bit size. You can simply use the ones that came with the kit as a gauge to get the size if not dead on, pretty darned close...happy grilling
