Hello preslncon - The black button that you are referring to is more than likely the Hi-Limit Thermostat. The Hi-Limit Thermostat will open and stop power from reaching the heating element. The Hi-Limit is not resettable, and if it is open, it would need replacing. As far as the burnt wire on the Thermostat, more than likely a loose connection to the Thermostat could have possibly caused the wire to overheat. This is not a typical do it yourself job. Personally, I would recommend reaching out to a qualified appliance repair person to proceed further. I hope this information helps to some degree.
Hello linda_ross88 - Typically CL indicates that the main control board is not sensing that the door is properly closing. One of the best ways to determine if this is a false error code is to reset the power to the appliance by either unplugging it or flipping off the breaker for about 30 seconds. If the error code persists, typically an expert would need to check the door switches, wiring, and test the main control board. Regrettably, this is not a simple DIY job. I would strongly recommend seeking a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.
Hello Sean Luther - Generally, the dishwasher can be reset by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit.
Hello bonnichastee - Typically, this is a sign that the water temperature to the unit is not warm enough. The water temperature should be at least 120f and no more than 130f. I advise turning the hot water on at the sink (or faucet closest to the dishwasher); allow the water to get as hot as possible. Are you using rinse aid? Use a rinse agent to increase drying and cleaning performance. When was the last time the filter was cleaned? Do you noticed if the spray arm will rotate freely or if it is damaged? If so, you might have to remove and replace the spray arm assemblies. Should all basic troubleshooting measures fail contact a certified technician to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.
Hello Ron Temple - Depending on which cycle is selected, the maximum time is approximately 4 hours. Factor that contributes to long cycle times is water temperature. The water temperature should be at least 120f and no more than 130f. I advise turning the hot water on at the sink (or faucet closest to the dishwasher); allow the water to get as hot as possible. Then, start the dishwasher. If you are still experiencing long time cycle, I personally recommend consulting a service provider.
If so, when was the last time the filter was cleaned? Most dishwashers have a glass trap located in the center of the filter designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, pits, etc. You should simply be able to grasp the handle, lift out, empty and place it back. Is the unit making a grinding noise? If it is, then contact a professional because you may possibly have a defective drain motor.
Hello Dave Powers - Try reprogramming the dishwasher by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. Run a normal cycle, if issue continues then it sounds like it is experiencing a wiring failure or a communication error with the control/keypad. Consult a professional to move forward accurately.
Hi derekpaterno - The issue may lie with the door latch; a door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance the unit won't start at all. Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three. If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work. The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly. My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem it may also prevent the unit to start. Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals. By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check. If any proves to be ineffective, I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.
It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

Hello Gary Tower - A few things to consider, when was the last time the filter was cleaned? Most dishwashers have a glass trap located in the center of the filter designed to collect pieces of broken straws, pits, etc. You should simply be able to grasp handle, lift out, empty and place it back. Check for blockage at garbage disposal and drain for blockage. Is the unit making a grinding noise? If so, contact a professional because you may possibly have a defective drain motor.
Hello ezideas - First I suggest verifying that there is enough water pressure coming into the unit and that it is at least 120F. Do you noticed if the spray arm will rotate freely or if it is damaged? If so, the spray arm assembly may need to be replaced. Connect with a professional to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issue.
