Check the rinse hold has not been accidentally pressed . If not then you need to drain from the bottom plug and check penny trap.if that's clear it may be the pump or hoses that have clogged or failed.reset machine to off and try selecting spin only.

If the reddish oily liquid is coming from the bottom of the appliance, it could be grease coming from the motor area. Probability is you have a blocked pump. That humming noise you are hearing on the spin, is the pump motor polling as it cannot turn. The machine will not spin until the water is out. This is the safety function of the pressure switch. Centrifugal force would otherwise cause the water to be forced out of the machine from places like the dispenser draw and flood your laundry. The E20 code is a general pump failure code. This is usually the pump being clogged.Try using a wet/dry vacuum on the end of the drain hose to see if there is a blockage that you don't see. If you still get the error you will need to replace the drain pump.Here is the new drain pump to order.

Hello Susana - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have either the pump or timer diagnose.

I understand you have a Frigidaire Affinity ATF6000 series washer with an error code E23, correct ?
If that is indeed the error code you receive in the display it is potentially bad news unfortunately, as that indicates either loose wire (fingers crossed) or a failed drain pump relay on the control board. This is how it is described in the Frigidaire service tech manual.


Further to this, if it is not a loose wire at the pump or on the control, the only remedy is to replace the control board, unless you are proficient at electronic repairs (including soldering techniques) and can purchase an exact relay and replace just the relay...though that doesn't guarantee the control hasn't suffered collateral damage in the process.

could be many things... possibly the starter capacitor is gone (google what this is if interested), but lets start simple... If the machine isn't getting water, this will make it stop. Check the taps are on, hoses hocked up, test hot and cold cycles, even pull out soap draw while ur at it and give it a good clean as soap always builds up anyway. But i am getting a feeling that ur machine is getting water otherwise you would have mentioned it. The other thing is to check that water is getting out ok. Is the pump blocked? Give it a clean anyway because everything you put into your machine goes through the pump, so it works hard. The good thing about these exercises is that you'll start to get to know ur machine. A good friend of mine once told me some advice when trouble shooting... "get to know how it works, and then you might find why its broken". And then check the switch on the door. The trip switch on the door prevents someone putting the arm in machine while its spinning at 1400 rpm. Hopefully by now you've opened up the machine to marvel at its inner workings... Check the obvious that wires seem connected and hose clumps are in their correct position. Lets turn our attention to the motor. Is there a belt? Is the belt on? Can u turn the drum around manually? (Do this with power off which you should have well and truly done by now). If these are all yes, lets check the motor on spin cycle - which we probably could have done before pulling case off. If it isn't spinning at all, check to see if there is a fuse in the cpu board (this is the brains of machine). If fuse blown, this could be due to motor gone or starter capacitor gone. let us know how you get on

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

Water is not draining as indicated by error code 20 and therefore the machine cannot advance to the spin cycle. Either the drain hose is clogged/kinked, the pump is blocked or not working, or the trap is blocked.

Check to make sure the drain hose is not clogged/kinked then access the pump assembly and check the pump including the trap. The front panel needs to be removed to access the pump assembly which will require the removal of the top panel, console, door gasket, and the door lock and switch assembly. Once the front panel is off, remove the pump outlet hose from the pump and the tub-to-pump hose from the tub. The trap is located in the tub-to-pump hose. Take the pump assembly out after the pump securing screws are removed then clean the trap and inspect the pump for any sign of damage.
