The ice cube maker just quit working. Why?
This could be for a number of reasons. The most common reason is that the water inlet pipe to the ice maker has frozen up, in which case derfost the freezer and start over or that the actual motor itself has gone- replace motor- or there may be a problem with either the control board or user board cicuitry, in which case you will need to replace the specific board

The Ice door is limp has no tension and does not close
This happens from time to time. It is worth the fix, and not to bad if you are going to do it yourself. For some reason the flap isn't getting closed and simply needs to be replaced. There is a kit with a part number 8201649 with instructions. I would order this anywhere appliance parts are sold and do it. Since it comes with several parts, I would just replace them all for best results :)

No ice
Check whether the water is reaching the ice maker. If something is blocking its way get it cleared. Once it start taking water it should produce ice.

How you empty tray under Ref.
Hi here is the resolution for your quarry.
Well its very easy to empty the under neath tray for the refrigerator.
You need to do is just pull that tray out from the front side of ref. and empty it.
If in case it wont come out. than I would suggest you too look into the manual of ref. and follow the instructions in it.
Or if you find it complicate or confusing just call some one from the service center of ref. company. they will do it for you as well as they will show you how to do it.
if you still find any quarry regarding the same or any other please reply.
Naiven.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL SIDE X SIDE MODLE # ED5RHEXNL
There is a double or triple water valve in your fridge. check continuity on the water dispenser valve coil in the back of the fridge (small terminals, thicker tubing, green coil). Replace valve (part number
4389177) if no continuity. If ok, check if there's line voltage (110-120V) to that coil when the dispenser actuator is pressed. If there is power and there is continuity on that coil - water line is frozen inside the freezer door. Turn off and defrost the refrigerator for full 24 hours. put towels under the freezer door to catch melting ice formed from condensation inside the door. repeat every year or as necessary.
If no power to the water valve coil - check the switch actuated by the water lever in the dispenser assembly. Replace if faulty. Regular microswitch is ok, but if you want the OEM part number, there it is: 2162361
Good luck!

Temp, worked fine both controls have been set on 4
Hi, sounds like it is the internal refrigerator thermostat which should be
located in the upper housing of the refigerator section. Changing it
may be difficult for a DIY'er as there is a capillary tube that is very
fragile and should be handled with extreme caution so as not to break
it. As far as finding one, never call the manufacturer. They seldom
have the parts you need. Try your local A/C and refrigeration shop.
Another option should your unit not have a thermostat would be a
"clixon". This is a small disc shaped device attached to the cooling
coil which will have two wires coming from it. A third option is be
sure before you do anything that the coils are not frozen and iced
over. If they are, unplug unit and do a manual defrost. Hair dryers
work well for this. Be sure to have plenty of towels on hand for this
can be a messy process.
Take care

Water stopped coming out of dispenser
Sounds like you may have had air enter your water line from an outside source such as the water company doing work. The air will stir up any sediment in the lines and it can clog strainers in various appliances. You have a strainer in your fridge water line just before the water inlet valve on the back of the fridge. Cut the water off under the sink or wherever the cut off is and take the line off from the valve and see if it's clogged up. Clean it out if it is and if you have any trouble with the washer it might have the same problem. The hot water lines aren't usually affected because the sediment will settle in the hot water tank. You ice maker should also be affected.

Do i need to change the filter in order to get the
no you donot need to change the filter first. all of the water goes through the filter first. you either have a bad water valve for the ice maker. a bad ice maker. or bad optics that sense the ice bin on the door is full. can you move the ejector blades on the ice maker? that will tell you if the ice maker gear is broken.

14 year old whirlpoolside by side freezer side
It appears your thermostat has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Ice maker will not dump
Good day,
It has to be the ice maker itself, as long as the temp in the freezer is at or below 14 degrees, and the lever is in the down position.
2 items internally can cause the problem. One is the front module which is a quasi-solid state component and the control thermostat which is behind it and requires a complete dissasembly of the ice maker to access it.
Most will simply replace the ice maker.
If you feel you want to try a repair, remove the ice maker, and let it sit on the counter for 24 hours to dry out.
Pull the front of the wire lever out of the body of the ice maker. Pry the front cover off the ice maker. You will see 3 screws holding the module in place. Remove them, and pry the module off.
Re-install. The point is the electrical contacts are press to fit and one or more might have failed to make a good electrical contact. Reassemble and reinstall the ice maker.
Rarely works but your option. Replacing the module and thermostat are not cost effective.

Whirlpool sxs with ice/water dispenser,
Is the fridge side cooling properly, or is it warm too?
If the fridge side is warm, then you're losing coolant, and most likely have a leak in the compressor or coils.
If the fridge side is cold and the problem is isolated to the freezer, then the problem is with either the circulating fan or the cold control for the freezer. The circulating fan is inside the unit, behind a plastic panel on the back wall. With the fridge off, you should be able to move the fan blades freely (virtually no friction) With the fridge on, they should spin up within 5 minutes of plugging the fridge in.
If the fan is working properly, then the next thing to check is the thermostat. You can put a multimeter on the output of the thermostat, and verify that it changes (from voltage to no-voltage or from no-voltage to voltage) when you adjust the freezer thermostat, but I'm not aware of any diagnostic beyond that. They're cheap enough and easy enough to replace though.

Will not make ice
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice.
Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned
off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the
ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the
raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply
lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others,
you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is
in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be
between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the
ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat,
repair/replace as necessary.
