You will have to disassemble and see if it has a fuse, I could not find any info on this model.

Replace the fan motor. It could also be the control board depending on the heater.

I am having issue with model no 5848 heater that turns on but then it shuts right BK off & the lights just blink so I've unplugged for bout 10 mins & plugged it BK in but nuttin worked... Some 1please help

Unplug it for 5-10 minutes. Then try again, worked for me. Plus it says to do so in the back of unit! Hope this helped

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07227.html there was a recall of your model heater in 2007. Does this effect yours? Depends on whether or not yours was manufactured prior to this date. Even if it was, recalls and reimbursement for what you may have paid for the heater has time limits for you to make a claim.

if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

It si very likely that the control board has been damaged by the power surge. There may well be a fuse on that board which can be replaced but the electronics could be damaged. Ask a competent electrical expert to check the control board and fuses You can email Lasko here [email protected] to see if they can help. There is a power cutout in the heater to prevent damage but it should reset after unplugging for 10 mins. Check all fuses

This is most commonly a failure of the electronics rather than a sensor. The capacitors on these heaters overheat and swell up and throw the machine into protection mode. The way around this is to unplug the machine for a few hours, then pull the cover off, check that all the air filters are clean and the machine can get fresh air. Then check that none of the electronical components are soldered in securely and no loose wires. Check for any burn marks on the main circuit board which would indicate a bad electronical component such as a faulty capacitor.

I clean mine like this, unplug the fan and head outside, I use compressed air and a blow gun. I blow the air thru the intake and then backwards thru the front heating elements and repeat until you have clean air in both directions. I average about five times both directions and I am good for the year. I have made a practice of cleaning it out in the fall of each year.

unplug the heater. clean the vents in the back using a vacuum cleaner hose attachment. wait 15 minute and plug the heater back in. This has worked for me.

Hi, I fixed mine. Spread the word far to everyone that has one. Borrowed an air blower (the kind used to blow away leaves etc), and just blew it inside the cracks and back end of the heater, got all the dust out. Previous reports that the sensor was probably being blocked with dust is correct. Thing has been running more powerfully and doesn't shut off like it did previously. So, just take something with high air pressure, and get all the junk out. No need to even disassemble.

Hello, Mne was also shutting down. Turns out that is was clogged with dust, therefore overheating and turning it self off. If you're handy, you may want to open the heater and dust it off with a can of compressed air.

I have model 5532, but I think they all have the same problem. There seems to be a safety device in the ceramic heater that turns off if it gets too hot. It "remembers" when this happens as well and will shut off until it is unplugged for 10-15 minutes.

This happens on even lightly used heaters if used in dusty conditions. Dust builds up behind the ceramic heater and the lack of flow causes it to overheat. The unit must be dismantled and the dust brushed/vacuumed out. The good news is that not only will the heater work again, but it will have better airflow too!

To do this, tech support and other people say to "clean the rear grill", but my rear was not dirty. The front grill had some dust that I vacuumed clean, but did not help. In my unit there are no filters before the air goes through the heater element. The problem is in the center of the heater. Taking out the internal fan (four screws on the sides of the squirrel fan box), I could see that the radiator was over half covered in dust. I cleaned that dust out using a shop vac and the problem went away.

Opening the heater was a little tricky, two of the screws were triangle head screws. Once inside, however, it is a simple proceedure to remove the fan. Of course, you should unplug the heater and wait a while before opening it up to make sure there are no electrical charges stored in the unit.

There was a recall on this model and it was deemed a fire hazard as the plug can overheat at the base.

let me guess it just makes that beep,and doesnt even turn on.get a steak knife or flat head screw driver and scrape all the dust and hair of the steel screen on the back every two months or so.it should work after that.i had the same problem.

The air intake vents in the rear were clogged with dust. They needed to be brushed and vaccumed.

Normally they have a tip over switch in the base. If the tip over is activated there should be nothing, no heat, no fan. It sounds like yours is heating up and burning dust in side it, but the fan isn't running. If you can open it up, you can see if the fan has been dislodged.
