Unplug for about 10 min then plug back in, should work just fine. Did for me.

At least for the Model 5165, the "88" means there is a circuit error -- probably applies to other models as well. First, call Lasko Customer Service 1-800-233-0268 (M-F, 8AM-5PM, EST). Have your receipt ready. Lasko will ask for a engraved number at the bottom of the heater, may have to look a few times to see it, normally about the serial number. Hope this helps!

Requires a special security screwdriver. I modified a slim old screwdriver by filing a small V in the middle of the blade. You can also buy 1/4" driver bits at Harbor Freight, etc.

main board problem

it sounds like a sensor at fault or the control card if fitted

look on ebay

check the bottom of heater for a push button type switch that is supposed to sense that the unit is upright ...also try it on a solid flat surface

fatly over heat switch or tilt switch some r very picky
