Most local automotive stereo stores sell an installation kit that has a surround that the new stereo mounts in to and fits the space of the stock stereo, and also comes with a wiring harness that wires the new stereo to a plug that fits tthe car's stock radio connector.

does the mechanical mechanism sound like it is engaging.

You have problem with the reading head of the cd. if it has warranty send it back or else you have to try to clean the head with a cotton stick and it will work fine if the head is not broken.

It actually sounds like you don't have your parking break wire (light green wire on wireing harness) grounded. I have an 06 F150 and the same thing happened to me when I instaled it. I had no address search and some other functions didn't work as well. Try to locate the light green wire and ground that to anything metal. Hope this helps, the install manual isn't very good at describing this.

try reseting the GPS device... the manual should indicate how to reset GPS device and then try again and repost if problem is still occuring.

you might need a surge suppressor i think that what its called i had a problem like that with one of my old cars the noise is generated from the engine and it goes through the power creating a surge which makes it hum cause the power needs to get filtered properly. you conect it in the positive and negative wires
