Asko 24 in. 1585 Built-in Dishwasher Questions & Answers
Dishwasher not running through entire wash cycle
If I understand right, you saying no/little water is entering the washer?
First, look for the float switch valve.
Here's an example of what you're looking for:
http://appliancejunk.com/forums/gallery/1_12_08_07_8_34_08.jpg
It's the item in the lower right, with the spoon stuck under it.
If this float is stuck/hung-up in the UP position, it won't allow water to flow, as it senses that the water level is already at maximum.
Try to lift yours and see if it freely drops back down on it's own.
Sometimes they get gummed up and stick, or get pulled up and tilted a little, or have something (like a spoon) stuck under them.

Turned on the asko 1585
Hello, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your post, "began to make strange (deep groaning) sound and the lights flashing (also found an error code F2). Can only turn off by cutting power at the breaker", the good news...It is likely nothing very serious, but the "resolve" requires some investigation on your part.
What the F2 means is the control has indicated a overfill.
**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**
The first thing to do is remove the toe panel/kick plate and inspect the base for water. There will likely be water present.
With the aid of a sponge, towels, or a wet-dry shop vacuum, absorb the water from the base, that should restore normal operation...it should be known that if you leave the unit for a few days, the water in the base will evaporate hence appearing as everything is fine again...if any other problem/leak does exist it will return.
If the unit works fine after resetting the power/breaker and soaking up any water present, it can likely be chalked up to a drain back-up or obstruction in the drain hose or pump... (it could mean a faulty drain pump or a inlet water valve, so you'll need to pay close attention the next few times you run it)
**The float is primarily the last ditch safety to prevent disaster in the event of a overflow, back-flow, or leak underneath the unit and the illuminated F2 letting you know to service or call for service to the unit**
Hope this helps move you forward, or even better resolves the issue altogether. Let me know of course, I will help you move further if necessary. Good luck.

Can't turn off machine, even if I open it or push
Hello,
Welcome to FixYa.
Based on your description, the good news...It is likely nothing very serious, but the "resolve" requires some investigation on your part.
The drain stuck cycle are directly related with overfill scenarios for Asko dishwashers of this era. This is meaning the overfill switch is indicating an overfill has been detected. Whether the unit has actually overfilled or not remains to be seen.
In the event it has, the outlet/drain pump motor is automatically turned on via either the pressure switch or a float in the base if sensing an overfill and removing water from inside the dishwasher will do nothing to resolve this error, but you can...
**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**
The first thing to do is remove the toe panel/kick plate and inspect the base for water. If water is present, with the aid of a sponge, towels, or a wet-dry shop vacuum, absorb the water from the base...it should be known that if you leave the unit for a few days, the water in the base will evaporate hence appearing as everything is fine again...if a problem/leak does exist it will return.

...If not, there are a couple of other possibilities that I'd focus on.
**again insure power to the unit is off**
The first is the float and subsequently, float switch. If you've removed the service panel at the bottom, or toe plate, you need to locate the float and it's switch. It will be located directly behind where your main electrical junction is...
i.e.
Once you've located the float behind the main connection plate, you should see something like this image below,
i.e.
With the aid of a long screwdriver or if you can reach it, move the float up and down and listen closely for the switch to "click", indicating it is indeed functioning.
Restore power again, and see if this resolves the issue, if not try this next...
The pressure switch too can cause the drain/outlet pump to run constantly ( and usually all the lights to flash or "F2"...depending on the era and model of the Asko...ones with displays show F2 and leds flash, yours just having a mechanical timer show nothing ).
As I was saying the pressure switch is the component which controls the normal fill level and the overfill detection...pre float activation. The float is primarily the last ditch safety to prevent disaster in the event of a overflow, back-flow, or leak underneath the unit to service or call for service to the unit.
It too is located under the machine and is mounted to the sump well assembly as shown, the large arrow indicates the switch while the small is the hose.
i.e.
The issue is possibly just the hose going to the switch is clogged with debris such as dirt, detergent buildup etc and will be remedied by blowing it out.
The best way to do this is to remove this hose at the switch in the location indicated above, be very careful as to not break the hose off with the part of the switch inside, they can be delicate.
I typically work it loose with a tiny screw driver gently working it away from the switch. Once removed, pour a small amount of hot water, white vinegar or "CLR" through the sump from within the tub...or you can try blowing it through with "lung power".
The other end of the hose is located at the back of the sump well and is quite vulnerable to blockages over time due to detergents, dirt, and such.
This is the location...do not break this or you will need to replace the entire sump well...no fun.
Large arrow is pointing back to pressure switch, small indicates connection to sump well, sorry for the poor quality...it's hard to get in there with a camera phone, ha ha !
i.e.
That's almost the extent of the possible causes of this error. Of course it could be the pump as I alluded to, a pressure switch has failed, the float switch has failed, but not likely.
Hope this helps move you forward, or even better resolves the issue altogether. Let me know of course, I will help you move further if necessary.
Good luck.

All lights on panel stay lit up & pushing
Hi
The issue is with the control board that is bad and should
be replaced. Opening and closing the door did not help so the door switch-lock
assembly appears to be fine, and the unit won't fill at all so it is the
control board that is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further
assistance.

I have an Asko Model 1585 and the detergent door
Hello,
Welcome to FixYa.
Based on the description you posted..." detergent door will not stay shut and there is a constant noise coming from the door like a solenoid is stuck open " You are bang on...unfortunately.
This is a red flag. In these scenario's 99% of the time the control and Combi-dispenser are both at fault. The control is no longer available according to the "repairclinic.com" website, but they have this note...
**Control board kit *Note: Consumers can contact Asko at (800)898-1879 option 3 for further assistance.**
The buzz you hear is indeed the solenoid for the dispenser, the control is sending voltage to the soleniod all the time.
If the component has failed both will need to be replaced, you can inspect and check the dispenser with an ohm meter and visually inspect the control board.
Having said this, If you remove the door and control panel and visually inspect the control you will most certainly see burnt circuits, relays or resistors on the control. i.e
**Be sure to turn the power off to the dishwasher before servicing...safety first**
.
The associated output components on the control unit for the dispenser to check are as follows,
Combi dispenser... Q12, R50, R58, D21, D23, P2 3 ( these are identified this way on the control unit. )
The last available control part number is # 80 579 31-4 and a good control if you can find one, should resemble the image here...
As for the dispenser, the original Asko number is 88 011 39-77, but now subs to 1399543 and is available at "repairclinic.com" It will look like this, front & back...
Hope this info helps move you forward, I know it isn`t a lot of good news.
Let me know what you find or if you require further assistance. Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck.

ASKO Model 1585 diswasher.
Hi.
The door fan is the dryer (turbo) fan. The problem often happens when there is residual water at the bottom side of the tub.
trip the circuit breaker (or disconnect power cord), dry the water at the bottom of the tub(under the bottom panels) and restart the dishwasher.
If there is no water simply disconnect power to reset the dishwasher.
If the problem occurrs again and there is water, then there may be a faulty pressure switch (the sensor that detects water level).
If problem occurrs and there is no water it can be a faulty dryness sensor or a defective timer board.
Problem is usually fixed removing water and resetting the appliance.
