Is the float in the empty or full position?? If it is in the empty position, and the unit will run normally, then yes you can. The water will divert from the evap tray right into the hose. If it is stuck in the full position, and wont run because it thinks it's full, you will have to find a way to put and hold it in the empty position.

The problem you're having with your dehumidifier, may be the result of one or more of the basic, but solvable problems and solutions listed below:

1. The Humidity Extraction Level is set to High. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Remove, inspect the filter and clean if necessary. It it's a
Washable Filter, allow it to thoroughly dry before reinstalling it.

3. Obstructed Air Flow. A minimum of 12" to 18" clear air around the entire unit, must be

4. The ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees F. This is particularly true in
basement applications. The air temp at floor level is colder than the air temp at shoulder level.
Dehumidifiers don't work well in that temperature range (Unless, it's a Low Temp model). Raise
the unit up off the floor on to a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight of the
unit, plus a full tank of water.

If you troubleshoot the 4 things listed above, it may quickly solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Take it to a metal scrap yard and turn it in the copper and buy a new one. Buy a different brand.
Sorry to be so blunt but dehumidifiers are very cheap and disposable not many people work on them. If this help please rate me and do a testimonial.

The humidity level you have the unit set on may be to high. Keep in mind, a higher number is not what the dehumidifier will remove. It's what it will maintain. Lowering the percentage to say 45% or minimum if you don't have a LED readout, should cause the unit to turn ON and collect water in the bucket. Also, be sure that the air intake filter is clean and not clogged.

If you want to do an in home test, put the humidifier in the bathroom, turn on a hot shower, set the unit to it's lowest setting and as you walk out, close the door. DO NOT use the exhaust fan in the bathroom. After about 15 - 20 minutes return to the bathroom, turn the shower OFF and check the unit's water collection bucket. If you see any water in it, it's working as it should.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
